Lease a Renault 5 E-Tech from £214 per month*

The Renault 5 is a stylish, compact electric car that blends retro design with modern features such as Google’s own built-in infotainment system. It offers a fun, agile drive and practical tech inside a nostalgic yet updated cabin.

Ideal as a city runabout for one or two, it has limited rear space but a surprisingly large 326-litre boot. Two battery options provide 190 to 252 miles of range, competitive with similar small EVs.

Driving is enjoyable with sharp handling and balanced suspension, making it great for city streets, motorways, and winding roads. Overall, it’s a fun, practical EV with strong retro appeal.

You can lease a Renault 5 E-Tech Evolution from £214 per month (initial payment: £2,274.10) on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year deal. It offers a 40kWh battery with up to 192 miles of range. Standard kit includes a cruise control, 10.1-inch central touchscreen multimedia system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and 18-inch wheels.

If you prefer to buy a Renault 5 E-Tech, you can currently save up to £2,584, at the time of writing, on its top-spec Roland Garros model which comes with 252 miles of range.

Save over £9,000 on a Nissan Ariya*

The Nissan Ariya is a mid-sized electric SUV with minimalist design and a comfortable, well-equipped interior, though its touch-sensitive climate controls can be awkward. It offers two battery options with 250 to 330 miles of range, but has slower charging than alternatives. Inside, there’s good front space and smart storage, though rear headroom is limited by a sloping roofline, and the 466-litre boot shrinks in the four-wheel-drive model.

On the road, the Ariya’s firmer suspension leads to a less comfortable ride in town and on motorways, but it handles well on country roads. Overall, it’s a practical and attractive SUV that could benefit from improved comfort and cargo space to better compete.

The Nissan Ariya starts from £35,000, but you can get it through Carwow from £29,055. The biggest saving is on the Evolve model, with £9,042 off at the time of writing, which adds a panoramic glass sunroof, a head-up display, ventilated front seats and a power-adjustment for the steering wheel.

Prefer to lease? You can lease a Nissan Ariya Engage from £354 per month (initial payment: £3,534.28) on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year lease. With this, you get dual-zone climate control and a heat-pump heating system.

Lease an Alpine A290 from £315 per month*

The Alpine A290 is a small, sporty electric hatchback that builds on the Renault 5’s playful charm with aggressive styling and retro details like crosshair LED headlights and flared arches. It’s compact, with a low-slung design which offers a true sporty look. Inside, the driver-focused cabin features semi-bucket seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, physical controls, and modern tech such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though rear space is tight and the 326-litre boot is average for its class.

Performance is the A290’s standout feature, offering two motor options with 180hp or 220hp, reaching 0-60mph in 7.4 or 6.4 seconds. The 52kWh battery provides up to 234 miles of range and charges from 15-80% in 30 minutes on a 100kW rapid charger, making it a strong contender in the electric hot hatch segment.

You can lease an Alpine A290 GT from £315 per month (initial payment: £3,177.51) on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year deal. It offers up to 224 miles of range, a 10.1-inch multimedia display and USB-C connectivity as well as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as standard.

If you prefer to buy an Alpine A290, you can currently save £2,500, at the time of writing, on its GT model. This version also comes with LED lighting on the outside, a rear privacy glass, and heated front seats.

Save over a whopping £12,800 on a Vauxhall Astra Electric*

The Vauxhall Astra Electric is a stylish and practical family hatchback with a sharp exterior and a simple interior featuring two 10-inch displays, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. While front space is comfortable, rear seating and boot capacity are limited compared to alternatives.

It offers up to 258 miles of range, which is less than competitors with 300+ miles. It’s easy to drive around town with light steering and a quiet cabin, but range drops quickly on motorways. Overall, it’s a good city-friendly EV with great looks but falls short on range and rear space.

The Vauxhall Astra Electric starts at £34,955, but you can get it through Carwow from £25,896, with up to a staggering £12,844 off the Ultimate trim. This version has 257 miles of range, a head-up display, wireless charging, and lane change assist and side blind spot alert.

If leasing is more your style, you can lease a Vauxhall Astra Electric Griffin from £444 per month with a £4,292.12 initial payment, on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year lease. This model comes with tinted rear windows, heated front seats and steering wheel, a wireless phone charger and rear-view camera.

Lease a Citroen e-C3 from £235 per month*

The Citroen e-C3 is a small, affordable electric SUV with quirky styling, including C-shaped lights, roof rails, and herringbone accents. Its upright shape gives generous headroom and decent rear space, though the 310-litre boot is awkwardly shaped and storage is limited. Inside, it features a 10.3-inch touchscreen and fabric trim for a cheerful feel, but materials are cheap and the squared-off steering wheel is clumsy in tight turns.

Powered by a 113hp motor and a small battery with 199 miles of range, it’s best for city use. The soft suspension handles speed bumps well but feels wallowy on motorways and leans in corners. In town, light steering, strong regenerative braking, and easy manoeuvrability make it pleasant to drive.

You can lease a new Citroen e-C3 Max from £236 per month (initial payment: £2,420.25) on a 48-month, 8,000-mile-per-year lease. This comes with tinted glass, a heated windscreen, built-in sat-nav, a rear camera and automatic climate control plus heated front seats and steering wheel.

Prefer to buy? You can currently save up to £6,027, at the time of writing, on its Max trim. This also comes with a wireless charging pad to compliment the wireless smartphone connectivity and up to 201 miles of range.
