Car changing is a big deal
We’re a month into life with our Omoda 9, and the amount of space, kit and performance this car offers for the price is seriously impressive. Here’s how you can save a further £2,800 on this Chinese plug-in hybrid SUV.
Chinese cars are taking the UK market by storm, mostly because they offer a lot of space and equipment at a price which undercuts the established brands.
Take the Omoda 9 for example. Here you have a plug-in hybrid SUV which costs a bit less than an Audi Q3 PHEV, but offers way more space and a shedload of luxury features as standard.
And it becomes even better value for money when you buy through Carwow, because there are some great savings on offer at the moment. Here’s a rundown of the current deals you can get on the Omoda 9, as well as social content producer Tommy Allen’s thoughts on what it’s like to live with.
Omoda 9 price, deals and value for money
The Omoda 9 starts from £44,990, and unlike German alternatives such as the Audi Q3 or BMW X3 there aren’t pages of options and trim levels to wade through.

There’s just one trim level, called Noble, and as standard you get:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Heated and ventilated front and rear seats
- Surround-view camera
- 14-speaker Sony sound system
- Double glazing
- Panoramic glass roof
The only optional extra you need to concern yourself with is the colour. White is free, but our car is finished in black for £750. You don’t even have to choose an engine, because the Omoda 9 is only available with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid setup.

By comparison, a plug-in hybrid Audi Q3 starts from £46,545, and if you want a panoramic glass roof that’ll cost you an extra £1,285. By the time you spec a BMW X1 PHEV to include a similar amount of equipment to the Omoda, it’ll set you back close to £46,000.
And the Omoda looks like even better value for money when you buy through Carwow, because you can currently save over £2,850. This brings the price down to just over £42,000, which is about the same as a top-spec Kia Sportage.
What’s the Omoda 9 like to live with?

Tommy has been living with an Omoda 9 for about a month now, and in that time he’s covered over 1,500 miles. Here are three things he likes, as well as three things he doesn’t. You can also read his report on the car for his first impressions.
Three good things about the Omoda 9
- Engine: The hybrid engine is insanely powerful, and it’s also smooth around town when switching from the petrol engine into EV mode.
- Technology: Our Omoda 9 is packed with tech, and Tommy is especially impressed with the surround-view camera. It’s super-clear and crisp, even in the dark.
- Interior quality: The Omoda’s cabin feels seriously posh for the price. There’s loads of leather and metallic trim, making it a lovely place to sit.
Three annoying things
- Driver aids: Tommy has found the driver assistance systems to be quite intrusive. The lane keeping aid is quite aggressive at times, and the constant bonging can get annoying.
- Suspension: The Omoda is comfortable enough most of the time, but it does feel quite wallowy on a twisty road. It doesn’t inspire much confidence through the bends.
- Switchgear: Despite the interior quality being excellent overall, some of the switches let things down. The gloss black buttons on the steering wheel feel cheap, and they also smudge easily.
