Car changing is a big deal
The new Renault 4 is one of our favourite electric cars right now, and it’s a bit of a bargain to lease one as well. Here’s why you should consider leasing this car.
Finding a good blend of form and function can be tricky if you’re shopping for an electric SUV. A Skoda Elroq is hugely practical, but a bit dull to look at. And while something like a Volvo EX30 looks fantastic, it’s hugely compromised on practicality.
This is where the Renault 4 really shines. It proves that you don’t have to pick between practicality and style, and it’s also fantastic to drive and cheap to buy.
Why we love the Renault 4
The Renault 4 is a retro reboot done right. Unlike the new Ford Capri, which shares a name with the classic coupe and nothing else, you can clearly see that this is a modern interpretation of the revolutionary ‘70s hatchback.

The boxy shape and clever creases across the bodywork make it look modern and retro at the same time, and the tall taillights and round front lamps are a clear nod to the original car. It really stands out from the crowd.
And the interior is just as cool. It looks very similar to the Renault 5’s cabin, which is no bad thing. You can get loads of funky fabric options, with the denim seats being a favourite in the Carwow office.

The 420-litre boot also trounces the Mini Aceman’s 300-litre capacity, and the really low load lip is a feature borrowed from the classic Renault. Getting your elderly dog in the back will be a breeze.
It’s a lovely thing to drive as well, with sweet steering and subtle suspension. As all-rounders go, the Renault 4 is a really good one.
Lease a new Renault 4 for £204 per month*
One of the Renault 4’s biggest draws is the value for money, especially if you lease one. Through Carwow, you can get a new Renault 4 for £204.39 per month with a £2,747.68 initial payment. This is over four years, with a mileage limit of 6,000 per year.
Need to travel further? You can up that limit to 8,000 miles for an extra £8.45 per month.

This is for the Evolution model, and while it’s the most basic version you still get plenty of equipment as standard. It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reversing camera and cruise control.
It also has a 52kWh battery which delivers up to 250 miles of range. That’s pretty good for a battery of this size, but if you need to go further on a charge then there are alternatives with better range.
Renault 4 alternatives
Not sold on the Renault 4? Here are three alternatives to consider, each of which does something slightly better than the Renault.
Kia EV3 – the range king

The Kia EV3 has up to 362 miles of range, making it the better choice if you spend a lot of time slogging up and down motorways.
MG4 – the value proposition

The Renault 4 is great value, but the deals you can get on the MG4 are insane. Lease prices start from just £188 per month* right now, and it comes with loads of kit as standard.
Skoda Elroq – better for rear passengers

The Renault 4 has loads of rear headroom, but legroom is a tad tight. The Skoda Eloq has palatial rear seats, making it a better choice for growing families.
