The S3′s cabin is as beautifully-trimmed as a standard A3, with even more goodies on offer. Those include heavily-bolstered, quilted leather sports front seats and a flat-bottomed S3 sport steering wheel.

Other than that the interior is extremely easy to use and the low amount of buttons gives it a premium atmosphere. Build quality is beyond reproach and all the switches and stalks have a nice expensive feel to them.

The sporty additions only add to the appeal of the already class-leading interior

All cars get an infotainment system with a seven-inch screen that retracts back into the dashboard when not in use. You control the system through a rotary dial that’s positioned between the front seats. Unlike rival touchscreen systems like in the VW Golf R, you can control the Audi’s MMI without having to take your eyes off the road – a great thing in a car as fast as the S3.

Optionally, you can spec up Audi’s virtual cockpit which replaces the analogue dials with a 12.3-inch screen that can show you a full-screen image of the sat-nav guidance. It’s an option that you should prioritise over others thanks to the sheer wealth of functionality it adds.
