Drag race: Lucid Air vs Porsche Taycan Turbo S

Mat’s got the keys to the Lucid Air for this drag race. Powering it are two electric motors, one on each axle, putting out 1,111hp and 1,390Nm of torque. Seems like a lot, but this isn’t even the most powerful Lucid Air. That honour goes to the 1,200hp Sapphire. This EV weighs in at 2,400kg, and it’ll set you back around £190,000.

On paper at least, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S appears to be setting off on the back foot. Like the Lucid it has two electric motors, however it is a bit down on power with 760hp and 1,050Nm of torque. Unlike it’s opponent, the Porsche has a two-speed gearbox to help it get off the line faster. It’s also the lighter of the two by around 100kg, tipping the scales at 2,300kg. At £150,000, it’s a lot less expensive as well.
