Drag race: the ultra-tuned 1,067hp Gunther Werks F-26 takes on all comers

August 22, 2026 by

This is the Gunther Werks F-26, and it’s a bit of a weapon. It’s a seriously impressive demonstration of what tuning can do to a car – starting life as a 993-generation Porsche 911 but finishing as a 1,000hp+ carbon-fibre-clad monster.

Keen to see just what this beast could do on the Carwow drag strip, I decided to pit it against a series of increasingly powerful rivals to see just how quick the F-26 really is. Let’s take a look at the stats.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

Gunther Werks F-26

The F-26 is based on an air-cooled Porsche 993 donor vehicle, but it goes through some serious re-imagining. The flat-six engine is bored out from 3.6 to 4.0-litres, then twin-turbocharged and pushed to a bonkers 1,067hp and 1,017Nm of torque.

It drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, and it weighs a featherweight 1,347kg. But with no automatic gearbox, no launch control and no 4WD, it’s going to be tricky to get the best start from this car – so Mat will have to use all the skill available to him to beat the first comer, let alone cars two and three.

The F-26 is limited to just 26 examples – hence the name – and it’ll set you back an eye-watering £1.2m.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS

This is a 992-generation GT3 RS, which also uses a 4.0-litre flat-six engine – though it’s water-cooled rather than air. It’s also naturally aspirated with no turbocharging.

A total of 525hp and 465Nm drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox – with launch control – and it’s just a little heavier than the F-26 at 1,450kg. But at a price of £192,600, you could have six of them for the price of one Gunther Werks.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante

Now Italy’s going to get involved. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante ups the ante by introducing four-wheel drive to the mix, helping traction off the line. It’s still down on power compared to the F-26, with its naturally-aspirated V10 engine pushing out 640hp and 600Nm of torque.

There’s a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic driving all four wheels, with launch control, and it weighs in at 1,482kg. It’d set you back just under £208,000.

Lamborghini Revuelto

No more messing around – we now have double the cylinders of the F-26. The Revuelto’s 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine is joined by a trio of electric motors, pushing a whopping 1,015hp and 1,060Nm of torque to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

It has a weight penalty for all that power – it comes in at 1,872kg, which could dent its chances. And it costs an eye-watering £447,000. But if anything can beat the Gunther Werks, it’s this.

So which of these cars – if any – can topple the mighty Gunther Werks F-26? Watch the video to find out.
