Drag race: what will win between Porsche’s most powerful road car and its fastest road car?

The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric is the most powerful road car the brand makes, but it’s still not the fastest. That title goes to the 911 Turbo S, with a 200mph top speed compared to 162mph in the Cayenne.

But what does this mean will happen in a drag race? Well, there’s only one way to find out. First, let’s look at the stats.

Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.

New Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric

Powering this enormous electric SUV is a pair of electric motors which put out a combined 1,156hp and 1,500Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels, but the car weighs a colossal 2,645kg. The Cayenne costs £131,000.

New Porsche 911 Turbo S

Representing internal combustion is the 911 Turbo S with its 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged hybrid flat-six engine. It has 711hp and 800Nm of torque, and this is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

It may be massively down on power compared to the Cayenne, but it’s also way lighter. The 911 tips the scales at 1,725kg, so in terms of power-to-weight it’s only around 25hp down on the electric car. It’s quite a lot more expensive though, with this car costing almost £200,000.

So which car will come out on top? Well, I reckon the Cayenne will get off the line a bit quicker thanks to its instant EV torque, but once the 911 is up and moving it could be anyone’s game.
