The ultimate Aston Martin showdown: which is quickest down the quarter mile?
November 08, 2025 by Jamie Edkins
What will happen in a drag race between a bunch of Aston Martins? On the start line today I’ve got some of the greatest 12-cylinder Astons ever made, as well as the latest V8-powered cars.
Rather than running many millions of pounds worth of Aston down the runway side by side, we’re going to run these cars in pairs. The winner of each race will then stay on to compete against the next contestant.
Let’s take a look at the stats.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
2010 Aston Martin Rapide
The Rapide is the only saloon car here today, and it’s powered by a 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 with 477hp and 600Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,990kg.

When it was new, this car cost someone £140,000. Today it’s worth around £40,000.
2010 Aston Martin V12 Vantage
Next up is the old Vantage, and it’s also powered by a 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12. It’s more powerful than the Rapide as well, pumping out 517hp and 570Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox, so the launch could be tricky.

This car tips the scales at 1,680kg, and it cost £136,000 when it was new. You can pick up a used Aston Martin V12 Vantage for around £80,000 these days.
2012 Aston Martin DBS
This Aston Martin DBS is powered by the same 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 as the Vantage, and it produces the same 517hp and 570Nm of torque. The difference here is that the DBS has a six-speed automatic gearbox, as opposed to the Vantage’s manual.

It weighs in at 1,695kg, and when it was new this car cost £171,000. In 2025 it’s worth around £85,000.
2014 Aston Martin Vanquish
Guess what? The 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish also has a 5.9-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine. Here though it makes 573hp and 620Nm of torque, and all those horses are fed to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The car weighs 1,739kg, and it cost £190,000 when it was new. Fancy a Vanquish like this one today? It’ll set you back around £100,000.
2022 Aston Martin V12 Vantage
This is the 2022 Aston Martin V12 Vantage, and it has a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 700hp and 752Nm of torque. This drives the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The car weighs in at 1,795kg, and when it was new it cost £265,000. Today, it’s still worth around £200,000.
2024 Aston Martin DBX 707
Next we have the 2024 Aston Martin DBX 707, and it’s a monster SUV powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, so it’s a bit of a departure from the screaming V12s we’ve seen so far. It puts out 707hp and 900Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

It’s the heaviest car here by far, coming in at 2,245kg, and it cost £210,000 in 2024. Today it’s worth £130,000. Ouch.
New Aston Martin Vantage
Now it’s time for the new Aston Martin Vantage, which has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 665hp and 800Nm of torque. It also has rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The vantage weighs in at 1,670kg, and it costs from £165,000. However, with options this car cost its owner £240,000.
New Aston Martin Vanquish
This is the latest 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish, and it also has a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Power has been increased compared to the Vantage though, because it puts out 835hp and 1,000Nm of torque.

This is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs 1,835kg. The new Vanquish costs from £334,000, but this one costs £433,000 after options.
New Aston Martin Valkyrie
At last, we come to the new Aston Martin Valkyrie. This is a full-on race car for the road, and it’s powered by a 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine which is boosted by an electric motor, and combined you get 1,155hp and 900Nm of torque.

That power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed sequential gearbox, and the car only weighs around 1,370kg. It cost around £2.5 million when it was on sale, but this car is worth £3 million.
So then, that’s quite the lineup of cars. Which will emerge victorious? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
