Drag race: new Lamborghini Temerario vs Ferrari SF90

I could be about to humiliate Ferrari with today’s drag race. I’m sitting in the new Lamborghini Temerario, a replacement for the old Huracan and the entry-level model in Lambo’s range, and I’m putting it up against the Ferrari SF90.

The SF90 is Ferrari’s flagship model, and one which actually rivals the V12-powered Lamborghini Revuelto. However, when you look at the stats you’ll realise that this could be closer than it seems.

New Lamborghini Temerario

Let’s start with the new kid on the block. The Lamborghini Temerario picks up where the old Huracan left off, only it doesn’t have a V10 engine. It has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which is backed up with three electric motors.

There are two on the front axle, driving the front wheels, as well as one between the engine and gearbox. Combined, you get a total of 920hp and 730Nm of torque, and the car weighs around 1,850kg with fluids on board. Prices start from £260,000.

Ferrari SF90

The Ferrari also has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three electric motors, two on the front axle and one between the engine and gearbox. It makes a combined 1,000hp and 800Nm of torque.

Like the Lamborghini, the SF90 has all-wheel drive and launch control, but it’s also the lightest of the two cars. It tips the scales at around 1,670kg with fluids, and the driver’s wallet will also be lighter because it costs £376,000.

So the numbers aren’t a million miles apart, but the Ferrari should still win this, right? It’s lighter and more powerful than the Lamborghini after all.
