  • New Karoq-sized electric SUV
  • Similar design to the Enyaq
  • Up to 300hp and all-wheel drive
  • 350 miles of range
  • Full reveal coming this autumn

This is the new Skoda Elroq, an all-electric alternative to the brand’s own Karoq and the Hyundai Kona Electric. The design of this new EV has now been teased, and Skoda has revealed some of the technical specs.

It’ll be available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and you can have up to 300hp. An 82kWh battery is also going to be available, giving the Elroq as much as 350 miles of range.

New Skoda Elroq price and UK release date

The new Skoda Elroq will be revealed in the autumn this year, with order books opening in 2025. There’s no word on price yet, however a figure of around £35,000 seems likely as this would place it below the Enyaq in Skoda’s range.

New Skoda Elroq motors and batteries

The new Skoda Elroq will be available with four different motor options, a lot of which are borrowed from the larger Enyaq. There are three rear-wheel drive models – one with 170hp, one with 204hp and a 285hp version. You’ll also be able to go for a 300hp all-wheel drive variant.

You also have three battery sizes on offer. The 170hp car uses a 52kWh pack, while the 204hp car has 59kWh. The two most powerful models use a 77kWh battery. Skoda hasn’t broken down the specific ranges for each car, but it has said that the Elroq will have up to 350 miles of range.

New Skoda Elroq rear charging

That’s exactly the same as the Enyaq can manage, and it’s 30 miles more than the Hyundai Kona Electric. You can charge the Elroq at up to 175kW at a DC fast charger, giving you 10-80% in 28 minutes.

New Skoda Elroq design

This darkened silhouette is your first proper look at the new Skoda Elroq’s design. It signals an all-new design language for Skoda, with a much slimmer grille than the Enyaq’s which is flanked by thin LED lights. The traditional Skoda logo has also been ditched in favour of the new script across the bonnet.

Skoda has also revealed pictures of a camouflaged prototype, and this reveals a bit more of the car’s styling. You can just about see the main means poking out of the lower bumper, a bit like they do on the Karoq and Kamiq, and there are some slim air intakes off to the side.

Looking from the side, there’s something of the Skoda Enyaq about the silhouette. It looks a bit like someone’s cut a slice out the middle of that car, and it has a similar stubby bonnet as well.

New Skoda Elroq rear

The Enyaq theme continues at the rear, where the taillights look almost identical to the Elroq’s larger stablemate. There’s a roof spoiler fitted to this prototype, suggesting that it’s a SportLine model.
