Car changing is a big deal
Build your new car to your exact spec and find exclusive offers at Carwow
If you are on the hunt for a new electric car but put off by the high list price, check out this electric car that ticks so many boxes. It has decent range, it is well equipped, it is good to drive and perhaps best of all – it can be yours for less than £20,000 if you buy through Carwow.
We are of course talking about the MG4 EV, an electric car that manages to be excellent value for money, looks fantastic and is genuinely fun to drive. And you can pick one up for £19,995 if you buy through Carwow. We’ve scored it 9/10 in our in-depth MG4 review.

Decent kit and spacious
Don’t think that the low price means you’re missing out the things you need from your electric car. Alloy wheels, LED lights, Android Auto/Apple Car Play… the MG4 looks good on the outside and the fit and finish of the interior is a step above the likes of the WV ID3.
Space for passengers is good, and while the boot isn’t the biggest amongst its competitors, it’s plenty big enough to carry a couple of suitcases.
Go for the cheapest model and you’ll get an official range of 218 miles – expect that to dip below under 200 miles in real world driving.
No car is perfect and the MG4 does have its downsides too. The infotainment system is fiddly and a bit laggy to use and the view out of the back isn’t great either. The brand finished bottom of the 2024 Driver Power Owner Satisfaction survey, too. So if the MG4 isn’t quite for you, have a look at some of these alternatives.
MG4 alternatives
We’ve lined up these alternatives based on the cars’ dimensions, not the price, so the VW ID3, Cupra Born, Renault Megane and BYD Dolphin are similar size, they can’t quote compete in terms of the offers you can get through Carwow.
The BYD Dolphin is a well-priced, well-equipped and practical electric hatchback, although some of the interior materials aren’t quite as soft-touch as they look.
The Cupra Born is a spacious electric hatchback with a practical interior and strong electric performance. For a supposedly sporty car it isn’t a huge amount of fun to drive, though.
The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is a super-stylish way to go electric, but its good looks come at a compromise on practicality.
The Volkswagen ID3 is an all-electric hatchback that comes with a sleek design and comfortable cabin, but it can be quite pricey and the infotainment system can be annoying.
