A facelifted Porsche Macan has been seen testing on public roads without any camouflage. With the current model nearing the end of its lifecycle it looks as if Porsche has decided to freshen up the exterior of its best-selling model with some very minor changes before an all-new, all-electric replacement arrives in a few years’ time.
New 2022 Porsche Macan design
Having been introduced in 2016, the Porsche Macan has gone through two updates already. The most recent, in 2018, added standard LED headlights and introduced the full-length taillight strip which has become the hallmark of modern Porsches.
The facelifted model in these spy shots shows that very little has been changed since then. The new car’s front end has repositioned slats on either side of the grille as well as some additional air vents, while the rear gets a more prominent bumper design. Subtle, eh?
New 2022 Porsche Macan interior
The current Porsche Macan comes with a 10.9-inch infotainment display, and while no official pics are available, you can expect this to come with revamped software and graphics to match the latest Porsche Panamera and Cayenne.
The current Macan already offers a solidly built and spacious interior, but you will have to dig deep for the optional equipment that can help make the cabin even more luxurious. However, with this being the final version of the Macan before an all-new model is introduced, there’s a chance some of the current car’s pricey optional extras may come as standard – on high-spec cars, at least.
New 2022 Porsche Macan engines and driving
Don’t expect the new Porsche Macan to come with any radical changes in the engine department. You’ll still be able to choose from the slightly uninspiring entry-level 245hp 2.0-litre turbo petrol as well as a 354hp 3.0-litre V6 petrol in mid-range cars. The GTS should come with a 2.9-litre V6 with 380hp, while Turbo versions will get a 440hp version of the same engine.
The current Macan’s dual-clutch automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive system are likely to be carried over, too, and you can bet the new car will feel just as sporty to drive as the outgoing model.
New 2022 Porsche Macan price and release date
The facelifted Porsche Macan should be officially revealed in the coming months with sales commencing soon after.
Prices for the current range kick off at just over £47,000 for the 2.0-litre model and top out at nearly £70,000 for the Macan Turbo. You can expect a slight price increase for the new Macan and, as ever, you should budget at least another £3,000 – £5,000 for a few must-have optional extras.
