The SE Business edition focuses on all of the business-ey things any modern go-getter would need, and gains additional equipment over the regular SE at no extra cost.
What does it get then?
From the outside, it looks much like the regular SE, featuring alloy wheels of the same 17-inch diameter and keeping the clean, crisp styling of the rest of the range. The only noticeable difference comes in the form of tinted privacy glass from the B-pillar back, which should help keep things cooler inside.
Most of the new goodies are to be found in the cabin. Alcantara seat upholstery should keep business bums comfortable, a 6.5-inch satellite navigation system should help them arrive on-time and more relaxed than usual, and front and rear parking sensors should reduce the risk of low speed bumps. Nothing, then, to distract from that all-important presentation this afternoon.
From June 2016, the SE Business will gain a wireless charging cubby for mobile devices. It’ll be capable of boosting their signal too so, combined with the integrated Bluetooth, there’s no excuse not to be constantly on the go. The vast 625-litre boot means you can take most of the office home at night if needs be.
What powers it?
As fleet users are frequently the type to cover vast mileages, the two most economical diesel engines are the only options here. The 1.6-litre TDI produces 120hp, while those in a little more of a hurry can choose the 150hp 2.0-litre. Either model can be combined with a twin-clutch automatic gearbox.
By far the biggest selling car for fleet users is the Vauxhall Insignia, though both the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat are arguably more talented alternatives. The underrated Mazda 6 is well worth considering, too.
How much will it cost?
The SE Business is priced at the same as the regular SE, so the 1.6 TDI is priced from £21,590, and the larger 2.0 TDI costs £22,090. If the DSG gearbox is a must, then it adds £1,400 onto the price of each.
