The most economical engine in the range is the 800cc CDI diesel which promises up to a massive 83.1mpg. It also has the lowest CO2 emissions of the range at 88g/km making it free from road tax and London’s congestion charge.
It isn’t the quickest, however, with a 0-60mph time of 16.8 seconds and a top speed of 84mph. There is only one review of this engine but it’s good. The critic says the torquey diesel engine suits the semi-automatic gearbox better which means changes will be smoother than in the petrol engines.
It may be slow to 60mph but it’s nippy enough for taking you around town. It’s the cheapest to run but not the cheapest to buy as it’s only available in the high spec Passion trim.

Read full reviewIt might not be quick, but it's sensationally frugal and the engine's torque does a good job of easing the awful gearshift.
