This spacious SUV with petrol and diesel engines is a used bargain

You can’t beat a Dacia if you’re after cheap and cheerful transport, and the Duster is one of its best-value models. The latest model looks great, it’s nice to drive and you get a reasonable amount of equipment, all for less than a Vauxhall Corsa.

The old Duster was a decent car as well. It might not have been quite as polished as the latest one, but it’s still spacious and comfortable to drive, and you can pick them up for less than £13,500 on the used market.

Used Dacia Duster deals

The latest Dacia Duster starts from just over £19,000, or £23,500 if you want luxuries like an infotainment system and alloy wheels.

But if you really want to grab a bargain, I’ve found a 2021 Dacia Duster 1.5 diesel with less than 30,000 miles on the clock for just under £13,500.

It’s a Prestige model as well, meaning it comes with cruise control, a reversing camera and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – as well as some snazzy diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is also great for motorway driving. It’ll do nearly 60mpg on a long run, and it’s a really comfortable car for cruising as well.

Why should you buy a used Dacia Duster?

The old Dacia Duster may have a pretty cheap-feeling interior, but if all you’re after is something which is hard-wearing, practical, simple and economical to run, then this is an ideal candidate.

Around town it’s easy to drive, and it’s comfortable as well. Don’t expect any back road thrills though, because the old Duster does suffer with quite a lot of bodyroll and the steering is pretty vague.

This is pretty easy to forgive though in a car at this price, and as a cheap and cheerful family car the Duster is a great option.

Citroen C5 X

If it’s comfort you’re after, the Citroen C5 X is hard to beat at this price. It may not be sporty to drive, but it’s extremely relaxing and it’s practical as well.
