Grudge match: Bugatti Chiron SuperSport vs Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

Fans of the Carwow YouTube channel may remember that last year I raced a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport against a Koenigsegg Jesko Attack, and the Bugatti won by the narrowest of margins.

The thing is though, you lot were very cross in the comments. You said I was cheating because I should have been racing against the Jesko Absolut. Well you can give your keyboard fingers a rest, because today I’m back in the same Chiron Super Sport to race against the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut.

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

So why did I get so much heat for racing the Attack last time? Well it’s because that car was designed to dominate on racetracks, whereas the Absolut is all about straight-line speed. It has a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and when running on E85 race fuel it produces 1,600hp and 1,500Nm of torque.

This is sent to the rear wheels only via a nine-speed multi-clutch gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,390kg. That’s around 30kg lighter than the Jesko Attack, and it’s a hell of a lot lighter than the Bugatti.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport

The Chiron tips the scales at a whopping 1,995kg thanks to all the leather and posh metal trim, but it does have four-wheel drive which should make it easier to get off the line than the Koenigsegg.

It has an 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine with 1,600hp and 1,600Nm of torque, and this is hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. I’m still confident that the Bugatti will win, which is why I’ll be driving it.

And to make sure there’s no cheating, I’ll be accompanied by one of Bugatti’s test drivers and Racing Driver Sam has a test driver from Koenigsegg in the passenger seat.
