Koenigsegg drag race: Agera takes on Regera down the quarter mile

Koenigsegg makes some of the most mental hypercars in the world. Not only are they the ultimate bedroom wall posters, they’re also insanely fast.

But which is fastest: the Agera RS or the Regera? Well I’ve got hold of both of these cars to find out in a drag race. Let’s take a look at the stats.

Koenigsegg Regera

Powering the Koenigsegg Regera is a 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine running on E85 race fuel and, as if that wasn’t enough, it also has three electric motors. The total system output is 1,500hp and 2,000Nm of torque.

This is sent to the rear wheels only via a complex single-speed gearbox. The motors provide most of the thrust at low speeds and fill in for the engine until it comes on boost, then that single gear ratio is set for top speed. This crazy car weighs 1,590kg, and costs a whopping £3 million.

Koenigsegg Agera RS

The Koenigsegg Agera RS is much simpler by comparison. It has the same 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as the Regera, only without any of the electrical assistance. As a result it develops 1,360hp and 1,570Nm of torque.

Like the Regera it sends all of its power to the rear wheels, but it has a more conventional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The lack of electrical gubbins makes the Agera RS lighter, tipping the scales at 1,395kg, but it’s still worth the same £3 million.
