These tuned AMGs have more than 3,000 horsepower between them, but which is fastest?

I love a V8 AMG. They make a great noise, and they’re usually pretty lairy to drive as well. But what if you want to take your Mercedes from being lairy to scary? Well Pure Tuning has the answer with these four cars.
Lined up on the Carwow drag strip today we have a Mercedes-AMG C63, E63, GT R and a GLC 63, and all of them have been heavily modified to make insane power. These four cars combined make 3,250hp, so let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Mercedes-AMG C63

This Mercedes-AMG C63 has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which usually produces 476hp. However, it has upgraded turbos, intake and an engine tune, meaning it now makes 900hp and 1,279Nm of torque.
All this power is sent to the rear wheels only via a nine-speed automatic gearbox, which has also been tuned to cope with the extra power, and the whole car weighs in at 1,785kg. It’s also worth about £30,000.
Mercedes-AMG E63

The larger Mercedes-AMG E63 also has a 40.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 which used to make 612hp. It’s been given an engine and gearbox tune, upgraded air intake and downpipes so it now has 812hp and 1,239Nm of torque.
It has four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox , and weighs just over 2,000kg. Today, this car is worth around £100,000.
Mercedes-AMG GT R

This is a Mercedes-AMG GT R, and it also has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 which usually produces 585hp. This one has been tuned and has upgraded downpipes, meaning it has 756hp and 1,120Nm of torque.
The GT R has rear-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it’s the lightest car here at 1,550kg. Like the E63, it’s also worth about £100,000.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 63

Finally, we come to the GLC 63. It has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and it’s been fitted with uprated turbos, downpipes and an intake. As a result, power has gone up from 510hp to 817hp, and it also has 1,215Nm of torque.
The GLC has four-wheel drive and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at a smidge under 1,950kg. As it stands, this car is worth around £50,000.
But which car will come out on top? You might think the raw power of the C63 would be enough, but its rear-wheel drive layout could make it tricky to launch. Make sure you check out this week’s video to see what happens.
