The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been updated to keep it in line with alternatives such as the Kia EV6 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

It gets a bigger battery, updated technology as well as new trim levels.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 battery and range

The biggest change for the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the introduction of a larger 77.4 kWh battery, up from the 73 kWh unit you got in the previous car.

This boosts the range from 298 miles to 315 miles in top-spec cars. A battery heater is also now included across all Ioniq 5 models to help you charge the car more quickly and prolong the battery life.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 technology

The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in a new trim level called ‘Namsan Edition’. This includes digital door mirrors that replace the standard mirrors with rear-facing cameras.

Namsan Edition cars also have a heat pump (which helps save energy when you turn up the cabin temperature) and a full-length panoramic sunroof as standard.

Premium models and up now come as standard with Hyundai’s clever Vehicle to Load system that allows you to power household appliances from your car.

New Hyundai Ioniq 5 price and specs

The new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in four trim levels: SE Connect, Premium, Ultimate and the new Namsan Edition.

Base model SE Connect cars are only available with rear-wheel drive and the smaller 58 kWh battery pack, and this will set you back £39,400. A top spec Namsan Edition with the large battery and all-wheel-drive will cost £56,400.
