Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo specification
We don’t know how much extra the new Monte Carlo will cost, but it’ll have black 16-inch alloy wheels that you can upgrade to 17-inch versions at extra cost, as well as optional lower sports suspension. You’ll also find Monte Carlo badges on the B pillar – that’s the bit that connects the roof to the floor of the car behind the front doors.
You’ll be able to spot Monte Carlo editions by the various black trims on the outside and tinted rear windows. There’s also a panoramic glass roof, tinted to help prevent scorched scalps should you take your Fabia Monte Carlo to its spiritual Mediterranean home.
Inside, the Monte Carlo is set apart from regular Fabias by way of a sporty scultped three-spoke steering wheel and sports seats with eye-catching red bolsters and racy grey stripes down the middle. It seems the centre console around the gear lever will come in a brazen red finish too (see below), making the interior a far more colourful place than the Fabia’s standard insides.
What’s the point?
The current Fabia has earned a record wowscore for the Czech brand, but there’s not going to be a performance-oriented vRS version this time around. The Monte Carlo aims to fill the gap for people who want a sportier looking Fabia, but who still want access to the full range of frugal diesel and petrol engines.
Fabia Monte Carlo release date
You’ll be able to order a Fabia Monte Carlo from June 2015, with the first cars arriving in the UK August, although most buyers will probably want to wait until September to get their new cars on the new 65 numberplate.
