Can a cheap Chinese car beat a £900k Ferrari?
January 10, 2026 by Mat Watson
You might know Xiaomi as a maker of smartphones, but it also makes cars as well. The SU7 is an electric saloon car, a bit like the BMW i5, and the Ultra version sits at the top of the range with an insane amount of power.
But is it enough power for this four-door family car to beat a flagship Ferrari in a drag race? Well I’m pitching it against the SF90 XX to find out. Let’s dive into the stats.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Xiaomi SU7 stats: bonkers power for the money

The Xiaomi SUV is powered by three electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear, giving it all-wheel drive. Combined, the motors make a whopping 1,548hp and 1,770Nm of torque.
It’s quite heavy though, tipping the scales at 2,360kg. I actually drove the SU7 Ultra late last year, and I was hugely impressed with the amount of tech on board and the blistering performance, especially when you consider that it costs the equivalent of £55,000 in China.
Ferrari SF90 XX stats: the car to beat

For £670,000, the Ferrari SF90 XX needs to impress on the drag strip if it’s not going to be humiliated by the electric car. It’s powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three electric motors to make a combined 1,030hp and 804Nm of torque.
This is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the Ferrari has weight on its side, or lack thereof. It comes in at 1,660kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 620hp per tonne.

The Xiaomi’s power-to-weight ratio works out at 655hp per tonne. It still has the edge over the Ferrari on paper, but this will still be a very close race.
