Drag race: Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 vs Porsche Taycan Turbo S vs BMW i7

Mat’s behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 today. It has two electric motors making a combined 658hp and 950Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels, and the EQS comes in at a hefty 2,580kg.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is slightly lighter than that, tipping he scales at 2,295kg. Okay so it’s not a lightweight sports car, but that’s the price you pay for all the batteries under the floor. Power wise, the Taycan has 761hp and 1,050Nm of torque sent to all four wheels via its two electric motors.

Finally, we have a bit of an underdog. The BMW i7 50 is the only version of the brands luxury EV available in the UK at the moment, and it’s a bit down on power compared to the other two cars. It has 544hp and 745Nm of torque from its two electric motors, and it’s the heaviest here at 2,640kg.
