Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs GT3 vs GT3 Touring drag race: does size really matter?
November 01, 2025 by Mat Watson
I’ve got an interesting drag race lineup for you today, because I’ve got all three GT 911s together to hash it out down the quarter mile. These cars are all built to eat up corners on racetracks, and as such they all have impressive aero kits to keep them hunkered down into the tarmac.
What I want to know is the effect these aerodynamic tweaks have on the straight-line speed. The GT3 RS has more power than the other two, but it has an enormous rear wing. The GT3 has a smaller spoiler, and the GT3 Touring has a completely clean rear end.
Let’s take a closer look at the stats.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS
My Porsche 911 GT3 RS has a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine with 525hp and 465Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed automatic gearbox with launch control.

The car weighs in at just 1,450kg, making it the lightest of the three, and it costs from almost £193,000.
Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring
The GT3 and the Touring both use the same engine – a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six with 510hp and 450Nm of torque. This is sent to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed automatic gearbox with launch control.

The GT3 is slightly heavier than the Touring. It tips the scales at 1,479kg, whereas the Touring weighs 1,477kg. The 911 GT3 Touring also does without the big rear wing, but both cars still cost from £158,200.

So on paper, my GT3 RS should win this race – but will all the downforce from that massive wing hold me back? Make sure you watch this week’s video to find out.
