Drag race: tuned Audi RS6 Avant vs Lamborghini Huracan Performante

What will win in a drag race between a tuned Audi RS6 Avant and a Lamborghini Huracan Performante? Well I’m about to find out by racing them over the standing quarter mile.

When I was growing up, estate cars were sensible, spacious family runarounds for parents who had given up their sporty cars to make room for their children. Nowadays though, Audi will sell you a big, plush estate with enough power to scare supercars.

This Audi RS6 has also been tuned by Awesome GTI to make it even more insane. Let’s take a look at the stats.

Tuned Audi RS6 Avant

My Audi RS6 Avant has a 4.0-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine under the bonnet, and when it left the factory it produced 600hp and 800Nm of torque. However, this car has upgraded turbos, a new intake and a sports exhaust.

The result is a whopping 840hp and 1,140Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 2,075kg. As it sits, this RS6 is worth £104,000 including its £35,000 worth of upgrades.

Lamborghini Huracan Performate

My old mate Racing Driver Sam is driving the Huracan, and it has a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine with 640hp and 600Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

It may seem like the Lamborghini is going to get thrashed, but it has one trick up its sleeve. It weighs in at 1,482kg, so almost 600kg less than the Audi, and that should make a big difference. It’s quite expensive as well, with a price tag of £180,000.

But will the lack of weight be enough, or will the raw power of the RS6 be too much for the Huracan to overcome? You’ll have to watch this week’s video to find out.
