Brabus Rocket GTS v 1,000hp AMGs: DRAG RACE
October 04, 2025 by Mat Watson

What will happen in a drag race between the incredible Brabus Rocket GTS, a Brabus 1000, a Brabus 1000 All Grey, a Brabus Smart #5 and a Brabus Smart #3?
Well there’s only one way to find out – I’ve gathered all five cars on a runway in Mendig, Western Germany to put them head to head.
I’ll be racing them in pairs, and the winner will go one to face a faster Brabus. Let’s take a look at the stats.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
Smart Brabus #5

I’m starting with the electric Smart Brabus #5, a wicked-looking SUV which is powered by two electric motors which make a combined 646hp and 710Nm of torque. This is sent to all four wheels, and it has launch control.
It’s quite hefty at 2,378kg, and when it comes to the UK it’ll cost around £55,000.
Smart Brabus #3

The Smart Brabus #3 also has two electric motors which power all four wheels, but it’s down on power compared to the #5. It has 428hp and 543Nm of torque.
It’s quite a bit lighter though, tipping the scales at 1,910kg. In the UK, you can buy a Brabus #3 for just under £46,460.
Brabus 1000 All Grey

Now for the first petrol-powered car – the Brabus 1000 All Grey. It’s based on the Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance, but it has a bored out, tuned 4.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 which is boosted by an electric motor.
The result is 1,000hp and 1,620Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It weighs a whopping 2,845kg, and costs £475,000.
Brabus 1000

This is the Brabus 1000, a pumped-up version of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance. Like the All Grey, it has a tuned 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, with an electric motor added on for added oomph.
Combined it has 1,000hp and 1,620Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox with launch control. The car weighs in at 2,265kg, and it costs £500,000.
Brabus Rocket GTS

Finally, we come to my favourite car here – the Brabus Rocket GTS. It’s based on a Mercedes-AMG SL 63 S E-Performance, but it has a stunning custom shooting brake roof. Under the bonnet is the same 4.5-litre twin-turbocharged hybrid V8 engine as the 1000, and it puts out the same 1,000hp and 1,620Nm of torque.
That power is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic gearbox, with launch control, and the car weighs in at 2,245kg. At least you’ll lose some weight from your wallet, because the GTS costs from £1 million
So what will happen in this bonkers drag race? Well you’ll have to watch this week’s video to find out.
