2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for UK car buyers, because there are loads of cool new models going on sale. Here are the 26 best new cars coming over the next year.
We saw a lot of exciting new cars in 2025, with everything from supercars to superminis. But what can we expect to see in 2026?
Well there’s plenty to look forward to. Performance estate cars, track-focussed EVs and cute little city cars are all of the cards. Here are 26 cars you can expect to see in 2026.

1. Audi RS5 Avant
The new Audi A5 Avant is a lovely estate car, but petrolheads are probably crying out for the hit RS version. Well we’re expecting to see the new RS5 Avant revealed in 2026, and it’s likely to use a V6 engine with a plug-in hybrid system boosting performance. More than 550hp is likely from this ballistic family wagon.
2. Audi A2 e-tron
On the other end of the spectrum from Audi, a small, entry-level electric car is also on the cards. We’ve spotted the new A2 e-tron testing, and it looks like it’ll be inspired by the quirky A2 hatchback from the early 2000s. Under the skin, you can expect to see a similar collection of parts to the Volkswagen ID3. This means it could have more than 350 miles of range, and there may even be a 300hp rear-wheel drive S version.
3. Audi Q9
It’s a wide spread of new models from Audi next year, because the new Q9 is a massive luxury SUV which will take on cars like the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. You can see the massive Audi grille and split headlight design poking out of the wrap, and there could also be a powerful V8 engine under the bonnet.
4. BMW iX3
This is the new BMW iX3, a high-tech electric SUV which will hit UK showrooms in the spring next year. News editor Jamie Edkins has driven it, and it’s hugely impressive with agile handling and a revolutionary infotainment system comprising a head-up display which spans the width of the windscreen. Prices start from just under £60,000.
5. BMW i3
Later in 2026, the all-new BMW i3 will also break cover. A new 3 Series is always big news, but this is the first time this saloon car has gone fully electric. It’ll have similar styling to the iX3 SUV, and it uses the same collection of parts under the skin as well. This means you can expect over 500 miles of range, as well as the same infotainment system as the iX3.
6. Cupra Raval
Next year Cupra will be revealing the new Raval. It’s an entry-level electric car which shares parts with the Volkswagen ID Polo, so it gets up to 280 miles of range and a 226hp electric motor powering the front wheels.
7. Honda Super N
Sticking with small electric cars for a second, this is the new Honda Super N. It’s a cute little city runaround which provides an alternative to cars like the Hyundai Inster and BYD Dolphin Surf, and this car promises a practical cabin with clever seats which flip up from the bases, as well as a Boost mode which maximises performance and simulates gear shifts.
8. Honda Prelude
This is the long-awaited Honda Prelude, a stylish two-door sports coupe which revives the nameplate after almost a quarter of a century laying dormant. It uses a 200hp hybrid petrol engine, similar to the one found in the Honda Civic, and it starts from £41,000.
9. Hyundai Ioniq 6 N
Following the success of the Ioniq 5 N, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will hit UK roads in mid 2026. This wild-looking electric sports saloon has 650hp, as well as a similar gear shift simulator to the Ioniq 5 N. That car is a riot to drive, so we have high hopes for the Ioniq 6 N.
10. Jaguar GT (Type 00)
Following its highly controversial rebrand, Jaguar will be revealing its new four-door GT car in the summer of 2026. It’ll carry over the styling from the Type 00 concept car, so you can expect it to look like nothing else on the road. It’ll also have close to 1,000hp, and a six-figure price tag is almost certain.
11. Kia Seltos
The new Kia Seltos is not a six-figure electric GT car, it’s a sensible family SUV which is set to cost around £30,000 when it goes on sale next year. It’ll be an alternative to cars like the Volkswagen T-Roc and Toyota C-HR, and the Seltos is available with a range of petrol and hybrid engine options.
12. Range Rover EV
An all-electric Range Rover has been on the cards for a while now, but we expect order books to open in the first half of 2026. It has 550hp from its dual-motor setup, and reviews editor Darren Cassey has already been wowed by this car’s off-road ability on a closed course this year. We’re looking forward to seeing how this car performs on the tarmac.
13. Lexus ES
This is the new Lexus ES, and it’s the long-overdue replacement for the aging car we know today. You’ll be able to choose between hybrid and electric options when it goes on sale in mid-2026, the latter offering around 300 miles on a charge. News editor Jamie Edkins went to look at a pre-production version earlier in 2025, and he was impressed with the striking styling and posh interior.
14. Mercedes-AMG XX
The Mercedes-AMG GT Four-Door was discontinued in 2025, and an all-electric replacement is on the horizon. We’ve spotted prototypes out testing a few times, and Mercedes also revealed the AMG XX concept in June 2025 to preview the design. The concept car has 1,360hp from three electric motors, so you can expect similar figures from the production car.
15. Mercedes GLB
Mercedes also revealed the new GLB in 2025, and this boxy family SUV will hit UK roads in early 2026. It’s bigger and more practical than the outgoing one, and features similar tech to the CLA electric. This means it has a massive screen dominating the dashboard, and the electric version can manage up to 392 miles on a charge.
16. MG S6 EV
In early 2026 MG will be bringing us the new S6 EV, a budget-friendly electric SUV which provides an alternative to cars like the Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq. The design was revealed by accident during Euro NCAP’s crash testing, and it looks very similar to the smaller S5 EV. You get 329 miles of range, and it costs from £38,000.
17. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Mitsubishi is returning to the UK in the summer of 2026, and while it’s not reviving the Evo sports saloon, it is bringing back one of its most popular models. The new Outlander PHEV uses two electric motors and a 2.4-litre petrol engine to make a combined 300hp, and the all-wheel drive system should lend it some decent off-road ability as well.
18. Mitsubishi L200
The other vehicle to come from Mitsubishi next year is the L200 pickup truck. The old one was hugely popular with tradespeople in the UK, so it makes sense that Mitsubishi would want to bring it back. The new one uses a beefy 2.4-litre diesel engine, although exact specs won’t be revealed until the summer of 2026.
19. Omoda 7
Omoda is one of the fastest-growing Chinese brands in the UK, and in early 2026 it’ll be launching its fourth model. The Omoda 7 is a mid-sized hybrid SUV which provides an alternative to the Volkswagen Tiguan and MG HS. It costs less than £30,000, but you still get luxuries such as a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad for your phone, a surround-view camera system and adaptive cruise control.
20. Omoda 4
The Omoda 4 is also coming in mid-2026, and it’s a small SUV which will be available with petrol, hybrid and electric power options. This will make it an alternative to cars like the Volvo EX30 and Renault Captur, and we expect it to cost less than £25,000.
21. Peugeot E-208 GTI
Peugeot is reviving its sporty GTI badge for the first time in around five years. The new E-208 GTI is an electric hot hatch which shares parts with the Vauxhall Mokka GSE, so you get a front-mounted motor with 280hp and a clever differential which should make it hugely agile through the corners. We’ll find out if it works when we drive it next year.
22. Polestar 5
In September 2025, Jamie Edkins went to see the new Polestar 5. It’s a low-slung four-door coupe which takes aim at the Porsche Taycan and BMW i5, and it stands out thanks to its stunning design and upmarket interior. It has up to 416 miles of range, and it’ll cost just under £90,000 when it goes on sale in early 2026.
23. Porsche Boxster and Cayman
We waved goodbye to the much-loved Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman in 2025, and their replacements are due next year. They were initially going to be electric-only, with a clever mid-mounted battery pack to aid weight distribution and handling, but Porsche recently announced that petrol-powered versions will also be available.
24. Renault Twingo
The new Renault Twingo was one of our favourite new cars revealed in 2025. This cute little electric car is a brilliant homage to the original Twingo with those round lights and bubble-like shape, and it’ll cost less than £20,000 when order books open at the end of 2026. It’s surprisingly spacious for its size, and the 163-mile range should be plenty for city commutes.
25. Skoda Epiq
This is the new Skoda Epiq, and you can think of it as an electric alternative to the brand’s own Kamiq. It’ll share parts with the Volkswagen ID Polo and Cupra Raval, so you get up to 264 miles of range and a 226hp motor powering the front wheels is also expected. In keeping with Skoda’s reputation for practicality, the Epiq has a huge 475-litre boot. That’s 55-litres more space than a Renault 4 can offer.
26. Volkswagen ID Polo
Last but by no means least, this is the new Volkswagen ID Polo. It’s an electric alternative to the petrol-powered small hatchback, and has up to 280 miles of range. It’ll go on sale in early 2026 with a price tag of around £22,000, and a sporty GTI version will follow towards the end of next year.
