Car changing is a big deal
Skoda’s next electric car will be a small SUV which sits alongside the Kamiq, and it’ll share a lot of parts with the upcoming Volkswagen ID Polo.
- New Skoda Epiq revealed
- Design is very close to the concept
- 264 miles of range
- 475 litres of boot space
- On sale in 2026
- Expected to cost less than £22,000
This is the new Skoda Epiq, a small electric SUV which will provide an alternative to cars like the Hyundai Inster and Renault 4 when it goes on sale next year. It’ll also be an electric alternative to the brand’s own Kamiq.
Skoda did reveal a concept version of the Epiq a couple of years ago, and this near-production show car looks almost exactly the same. It’ll also be very similar under the skin to the Volkswagen ID Polo, another small EV which was revealed earlier in September.

New Skoda Epiq design
The new Skoda Epiq is the first car for the brand to showcase a new design language (a fancy term for the way its range of cars look), and it looks much more modern than the current Skoda Kamiq.

Starting up front, the C-shaped headlights are neatly integrated into the grille, and the vertical slats in the lower bumper are very similar to the concept car as well. It’s also got quite a boxy side profile, a bit like a Volkswagen T-Roc, which should be good for interior space.

Moving to the rear, you have slim T-shaped taillights which are a first from Skoda, as well as a similar, rugged-looking bumper as you have at the front. This mushroom paint isn’t the most exciting though, it’d look better in a brighter hue.
New Skoda Epiq motors and batteries
Under that funky bodywork the new Skoda Epiq will be pretty much the same as the recently-revealed Volkswagen ID Polo. It’ll also have 264 miles of range, which is around 20 miles more than a Renault 4 can manage.
Powering this car is a single electric motor on the front axle, and you can expect it to have the same 226hp output as the ID Polo. That car will do 0-60mph in under 7.0 seconds, but with the Epiq being slightly larger you can expect it to be a little bit slower.
New Skoda Epiq interior and practicality
While there are no pictures of the Epiq’s interior, Skoda did unveil a design study last year which previews the car’s cabin, and it looks pretty close to production spec. There are some neat touches, including orange flashes and a floating centre console, and the steering wheel uses a combination of haptic touch buttons and physical switches.

The dashboard is dominated by a large central touchscreen which appears to have the same touch-sensitive slide bar underneath it as current Skoda infotainment. Sadly, conspicuous by their absence are the configurable physical dials you get in the new Kodiaq and Superb – instead, the only switchgear on the dash is a line of shortcut keys under the central screen.
Skoda has said that the Epiq will have a 475-litre boot, which is 55 litres bigger than the Renault 4 and it’s 111 litres more than a BYD Dolphin.
New Skoda Epiq: when can I buy one?
The new Skoda Epiq is scheduled to go into production in 2026, although prices haven’t been announced just yet. Skoda has said that it’ll cost less than 25,000 euros though, which is around £22,000.
