Mercedes-AMG unveils extreme CLE coupé
Mercedes-AMG has revealed an extreme new version of its CLE coupé, which comes with 646hp and rear-wheel drive for a more focused driving experience.
Called the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, the limited-edition model uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and has been designed with performance in mind. It’s also around 170kg lighter than the standard CLE, thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre.
The car gets a wider body, a wider track and bespoke suspension, along with a range of aerodynamic upgrades designed to make it sharper and more stable when driven hard.
This new version is part of Mercedes-AMG’s exclusive Mythos Series, with each being exclusively rebuilt by hand at the company’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany.
Mercedes-AMG says that the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung is aimed at drivers who want an especially focused and exclusive AMG coupé.
New Dacia Spring revealed
Dacia has unveiled the second-generation Spring, which is an all-electric city car with a range of up to 155 miles on a single charge.
The new model is 18cm wider than its predecessor and gets an 80hp electric motor, a 27.5kWh battery and a choice of charging options. A 50kW rapid charger can take the battery from 15 to 80% in 28 minutes, according to Dacia.
Inside, there’s a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display and, on top-spec versions, a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Built in Slovenia, the new Spring is the first of four electric Dacia models planned by 2030. UK pricing and launch details are yet to be confirmed, but it’ll cost less than £18,000.
Kia expands electric GT range
Kia is expanding its electric performance line-up with three new GT models: the EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT.
The trio brings sportier styling and dual-motor all-wheel drive layouts, with power outputs ranging from 292hp to 306hp. Kia adds the EV3 GT hits 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, while the EV4 GT manages it in 5.6 seconds and the EV5 GT in 6.2 seconds.
All three feature GT-specific suspension, torque vectoring, launch control and Virtual Gear Shift. The latter simulates gear changes to make the driving experience more engaging.
The EV4 GT offers up to 334 miles of range, while the EV3 GT and EV5 GT offer up to 296 miles, according to official tests.
The new models join the existing EV6 GT and EV9 GT, with UK pricing and specifications to be announced in due course.
Aion UT launches with 0% finance
The new Aion UT electric hatchback arrives at UK dealers this weekend, with a limited-time 0% APR offer from £349 per month.
Priced from £28,950, the UT offers a claimed 268-mile range and can charge from 30-80% in 24 minutes. If you test drive and order one in September, you’ll also receive a £500 deposit contribution.
The UT comes with Aion’s eight-year warranty, servicing and roadside assistance package, plus MOT cover until the car is eight years old.
Polestar previews new Formula 2030 concept
Polestar has shown off a new concept car that gives us a glimpse of what its next electric cars could look like.
Called the Formula 2030, the concept has been designed to preview the styling and technology that will feature on future models, including the next Polestar 2, due in 2027, and the upcoming Polestar 7.
The concept brings a sharper take on Polestar’s familiar Scandinavian design, with new exterior and interior details, materials and sustainability-focused ideas. The brand’s distinctive Dual Blade headlights remain, while the overall look is intended to be more sporty and eye-catching.
Polestar says the car also builds on its focus on electric performance, technology and sustainable materials, giving an early indication of how these areas could develop in future models.
The Formula 2030 has so far been shown privately to investors, retailers and selected customers in Gothenburg, Sweden. A full public reveal is planned for later this year.
