Drag race: tuned Nissan GT-R vs EV Rallycross car vs Porsche 911 Turbo S

July 15, 2022 by

Which is quickest in a 1/4 mile drag race, a tuned Japanese sports car, an electric Rallycrosscar, or a bog standard supercar? Let’s find out.

For today’s drag race, Mat’s behind the wheel of a pretty bonkers Nissan GT-R. It has a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine which has been rebuilt with forged internals and tuned. As a result, it’s putting out 1,100 and 1,270Nm of torque. This is paired with a built six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with launch control, sending power to all four wheels. It’s the heaviest car here, tipping the scales it 1,720kg.

Taking on this mad tuned monster, we have the Xite Racing Nitro electric Rallycross car. It has four electric motors, one driving each wheel, putting out 820hp and 900Nm of torque. Strangely, for an electric car, it has a three-speed gearbox. Even weirder still, it’s the lightest car of the three at 1,600kg, despite having a 50kWh battery pack on board.

Finally, we have the most ‘boring’ car here, if you can call a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six Porsche boring. The 911 Turbo S puts out 650hp and 850Nm of torque, linked to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with launch control and sending power to all four wheels. As for weight, the 911 Turbo S comes in at 1,640kg.

So which of these speed demons will come out on top? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
