Mat’s behind the wheel of the 918 Spyder for this race. It has a 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine, paired with two electric motors to produce a combined 650hp and 800Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The 918 tips the scales at 1,674kg, and it would’ve set you back £685,000 when it was new. These days, don’t expect to get change out of £1 million.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is something of a carwow drag race favourite thanks to its ability to launch perfectly every time. As standard you get a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with 650hp and 800Nm of torque, however this car has been breathed on by ES Motors. It’s been given a few modifications including a new intercooler, methanol injection and an engine and gearbox tune, and as a result it’s now putting out 888hp and 1,000Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,640kg.

So will these tweaks be enough to take down the 918? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
