The next few years are going to be exciting for car buyers, because there are a lot of new and revolutionary models coming. Many manufacturers are powering ahead with all-electric power, while others are still sticking with hybrid engines.

Alpine A390

This is the new Alpine A390, and it’s a radical departure from the lightweight A110 sports car we all know and love. This electric four-door weighs over two tonnes, but despite this Alpine says it’ll be just as agile as its featherweight coupe counterpart.

This is thanks mostly to a clever torque vectoring system which can distribute power between the rear wheels to slingshot you around corners. The A310 has a total of three motors producing up to 470hp combined, and it’ll go on sale in November this year.

Aston Martin Valhalla

2025 Aston Martin Valhalla front

Aston Martin has launched an alternative to the Lamborghini Revuelto. It’s called the Valhalla, and it’s a plug-in hybrid supercar with 1,079hp and 1,100Nm of torque. Straight-line speed isn’t what this car’s all about though, the suspension has been finely tuned to make sure it’s both fun to drive on the road, as well as pin-sharp on a track.

Just like the Revuelto, this car uses two electric motors on the front wheels and one to assist the engine driving the rear wheels. It’ll do 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds, which is exactly the same as the Lambo but around half a second off the Ferrari SF90.

Audi RS5

Exclusive render: New Audi RS5 Avant front

The new Audi A5 and S5 went on sale in late 2024, but the speed freaks among you may be wondering where the full-fat RS5 is. Well it’s due to go on sale this year, and it’s looking like it’ll retain a V6 under the bonnet.

It’s likely to be the same basic engine as you’ll find in the S5, however a plug-in hybrid system will almost certainly be added to boost power. Somewhere around 550hp could be possible.

BMW M2 CS

BMW has tuned its M2 to almost race-ready levels. The new M2 CS gets more power from its 3.0-litre engine. You get 530 hp and 650 Nm, the same figures as an M3 or M4 Competition and 20hp more than the standard car. It’s also lighter, lower and you can get semi-slick tires.

The best thing is that it’s still rear-wheel drive, making it a perfect car for those who enjoy some tail-out shenanigans. The styling is suitably aggressive, and an M2 CS can be yours for £86,800.

BMW iX3

The old BMW iX3 was based on the petrol-powered X3, but the new one will be a standalone electric car. It’ll also be the first car to use BMW’s Neue Klasse (New Class) electric architecture; a collection of new parts which will give it improved range and efficiency over its predecessor.

The new iX3 will also be the first production car sporting BMW’s new design language, something which was first introduced on the Neue Klasse concept a few years ago. It gets a sleek new look with thin kidney grilles up front and a sporty silhouette, but you’ll have to wait until later in 2025 to see what the final production car will look like.

BMW 3 Series

New BMW 3 Series front

BMW will be launching the all-new 3 Series at the end of 2025, just after the iX3 electric SUV. This will be the first 3 Series to be offered as an EV, however petrol and hybrid versions will still be available.

These initial spy shots show a similar design to the Neue Klasse concept from last year, and the interior will also feature BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive infotainment system. It uses a new type of display which spans the entire width of the cabin with clever 3D graphics which allow you to use certain functions without taking your eyes off the road.

Cupra Raval

2025 Cupra Raval front

This is the new Cupra Raval, and it’s one of three affordable new electric cars coming from the Volkswagen Group this year. The design was first teased with the wild-looking UrbanRebel concept, and now a toned-down production version has been spotted testing.

Under the skin it’ll be more or less the same as the new Volkswagen ID 2 all and Skoda Epiq, meaning you can expect around 270 miles of range. The concept was powered by a 234hp motor on the front axle, and there’s nothing to suggest this won’t be the case for the final car.

Ford Puma Gen-E

Ford Puma Gen-E front

The Ford Puma was the best-selling car of 2024, and an all-electric version was recently revealed to further broaden this funky SUV’s appeal. It looks pretty much identical to the standard car, albeit with a blanked-off grille, and it’ll cost £29,995 when it goes on sale later in the year.

The Gen-E is powered by a 43kWh battery giving it 233 miles of range, and the 168hp front-mounted motor means it can sprint from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. Practicality has also been improved by going electric. Ford has given this car a cavernous storage area under the boot floor, as well as some extra storage under the bonnet.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N side

After showing the world that electric cars can be huge amounts of fun to drive with the Ioniq 5 N, Hyundai is set to launch the new Ioniq 6 N this year in an attempt to replicate this success. Very little is known about the technical specs, but it’ll almost certainly have over 650hp.

The Ioniq 6 N has been spotted testing a few times, and the massive wing is the biggest giveaway that this is the hot version. Expect to see a suitably sporty interior as well with some body-hugging sports seats.

Jaguar Type 00

New Jaguar Type 00 front

Very few concept cars have caused as much of a stir as the Jaguar Type 00. Following a rather contentious rebrand in 2024, the company revealed this mad-looking all-electric GT car which will go on sale in 2026. A roadgoing production version could be revealed this year though.

It’ll use an all-new battery and motor combination which will give it almost 480 miles of range, and the minimalist interior looks like a luxury spa rather than a saloon car’s cabin. Expect a price tag of well over £100,000.

Kia EV5

New Kia EV5 front

This is the new Kia EV5, an all-electric SUV which will sit alongside the petrol-powered Sportage in the brand’s lineup. It shares a lot of styling details with the EV3 and EV9, without looking like a carbon copy of those cars.

There will be a few motor and battery options on offer, one of which Kia claims will get around 447 miles of range. If the EV6 and EV9 are anything to go by, a high-performance GT version could even come along at a later date.

Range Rover EV

Range Rover EV front

The full-size Range Rover is one of the most luxurious SUVs you can buy, and what better way to make it even more serene than by offering an all-electric version. The new Range Rover EV is slated for a reveal in the first half of this year, with first deliveries starting by the end of 2025.

Technical details are thin on the ground, but Range Rover has said that this car will offer similar performance to the V8 version; meaning 0-60mph should take around 4.3 seconds. You’ll have to wait until the covers are pulled off to find out about batteries and range though, because this car will use completely new EV tech.

Mercedes CLA

This is the new Mercedes CLA. It’s the first time this car hasn’t been based on the A-Class hatchback, and it’s also the first time this four-door coupe has been offered as an electric car.

It’ll do up to 500 miles on a charge, making it the longest-range electric car in the UK. A 1.5-litre petrol hybrid version will also come along in 2026, but the new CLA EV will go on sale later this year.

Polestar 5

2025 Polestar 5 front

Having spent four years prior with just one car in its lineup, Polestar gave us the new 3 and 4 in 2024. Well in 2025 there’s another new model coming from the Swedish brand, a luxury four-door coupe which will take on the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan.

The design appears to be very similar to the smaller 4, although this car does have a unique rear light bar. Under the skin you can expect to see the same 111kWh battery as the Polestar 3 and the Volvo EX90, and it could even have as much as 870hp.

Porsche Boxster EV

New Porsche Boxster EV Front

Porsche’s baby sports car is set to go electric this year, and the new Boxster EV has been spotted testing a few times. The hard-top Cayman will also go in the same direction, although there are no exact technical specs for either car yet.

They could share some parts with the Mission R concept though, namely the 435hp front motor. That would give it a healthy increase over the current car’s 300hp output, and should be enough to offset the added weight of the batteries.

Renault Twingo

2026 Renault Twingo front

If the Dacia Spring seems a bit too spartan for you, then you may want to wait for the new Renault Twingo to go on sale. The final production car should be revealed before the end of 2025, just after the new Renault 4 goes on sale, with cars hitting the showrooms in 2026.

UK Prices for this dinky electric car haven’t been revealed just yet, but Renault has said that it’s aiming for a starting price of under 20,000 Euros. That equates to £17,000, placing it right in the Dacia Spring’s crosshairs.

Skoda Epiq

New Skoda Epiq

This is the new Skoda Epiq, a small electric concept car which will share parts with the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID 2all. It’s a lot more rugged-looking than either of those cars, but it’s still only around the same size as a Skoda Kamiq.

The Epiq promises a 248-mile range, as well as a spacious interior. You get a 490-litre boot, which is around the same size as the larger Karoq, and it’ll also have a sub-£22,000 price tag.

New Tesla affordable EV

2025 Tesla Model Y

Tesla’s long-awaited entry-level electric car is supposedly just weeks away, and it could end up being a stripped-back version of the Model Y. Reports from Chinese social media suggest that it’ll have fabric seats, a smaller battery, a non-powered tailgate and fewer speakers.

The story of Tesla’s entry-level EV has been a long one, with multiple rumours that it would be cancelled in favour of the self-driving Cybercab. Tesla’s Q1 earnings report put a stop to these murmurings though, with an emphasis on “new, more affordable models” coming in 2025.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

New Toyota Urban Cruiser front

Toyota has revived the Urban Cruiser name for the first time since the late 2000s, and it’s been applied to its new small electric SUV. This is the second EV to come from Toyota, and it’s a joint venture with Suzuki which is badging it as the new e-Vitara.

It’s packing a 61kWh battery with a claimed range of around 250 miles, and there will be an all-wheel drive model as well. Prices are expected to start from under £30,000 when it goes on sale later in the year, making it an alternative to the Kia EV3 and Volvo EX30.

Volkswagen ID 2all

Volkswagen ID2all

Volkswagen will be launching a sub-£22,000 electric car this year, and it’ll be based on this: the ID 2all concept car. It’s one of a trio of small EVs from VW, Skoda and Cupra, and it’ll have up to 280 miles of range.

A spicy GTI version is also on the cards, as previewed by the ID GTI in 2023. That car should have more than 320hp, and it has some sporty styling upgrades over the standard car.

Volvo ES90

This is the Volvo S90’s spiritual successor – the new ES90. It’s a swoopy electric fastback which will sit just below the EX90 SUV, and it provides an alternative to the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE.

We got hands-on with the ES90 at the reveal in Sweden. It’s really spacious inside, and the interior is more than a match for the German competition. It’ll also do up to 435 miles on a charge, 13 miles more than an EQE can manage. Prices start from £70,000, and first deliveries will start in early 2026.
