This is the new Volkswagen ID. 2all. It’s just a concept for now, but it previews a Volkswagen Golf-sized electric car which will supposedly cost less than £22,000.
It’s based on VW’s latest entry-level EV platform, with front-wheel-drive and up to 280 miles of range. This car is set to go on sale in 2025.
New Volkswagen ID. 2all design
The Volkswagen ID.2all concept may look familiar to fans of the brand, because it has very similar proportions to the Volkswagen Golf.
Up front, there are slim LED Matrix headlights connected by a light bar that spans the whole bonnet, as well as a slim grille in the lower bumper.
Down the side you have some 20-inch alloy wheels, and the profile looks similar to the Golf’s. The rear door handles are hidden in the C-pillar, and there are no fancy digital door mirrors here to keep costs low.
The rear end is where this car really separates itself from the Golf. The ID. 2all has a pretty big roof spoiler, as well as a narrow rear window to give it a more sporty appearance. The light design is simple yet elegant, with a light bar across the tailgate.
New Volkswagen ID. 2all interior and infotainment
There’s nothing Golf-like about the interior of the new Volkswagen ID. 2all. It has a clean, modern design with two screens dominating the dashboard.
The digital drivers display measures 10.9-inches across, with the central infotainment screen being even larger. A head-up display is also included, as is the clever ID Light from the current Volkswagen ID3 which gives navigation information.
Those who are familiar with modern Volkswagens may be delighted to see some physical climate controls here in the ID. 2all, as well as a proper volume knob. This car may be designed to be affordable, but it’s pretty well equipped. This concept has massage seats, wireless charging for your phone and a panoramic sunroof.
As for interior space, it may be a similar size to a Golf but the ID. 2all concept has 90-litres more boot space than that car. It also has some clever storage under the rear seats, and the front passenger seat can fold flat to accommodate longer items.
New Volkswagen ID.2 all batteries and range
Volkswagen hasn’t said how big the battery is in the new ID. 2all yet, however, it has revealed that this concept has up to 450km of range. That’s around 280 miles. This puts it in line with cars such as the MG 4 and Kia Niro EV.

You won’t have to wait around long to charge up either, as the ID. 2all concept can go from 10-80% battery in just 20 minutes at a DC rapid charger.
New Volkswagen ID. 2all motors and driving
The Volkswagen ID. 2all is the first ID car from the brand to get front-wheel-drive. The single motor produces 226hp, and it’ll go from 0-60mph in less than 7.0-seconds.

There’s also some pretty clever driver assistance kit on board such as part-automated parking.
New Volkswagen ID. 2all: when will it go on sale?
The new Volkswagen ID. 2all is just a concept car for now, however a production version is set to arrive in 2025.
As for price, VW claims that this new Golf-sized electric car will cost less than 25,000 euros. That’s £22,000. If this ends up being the case, it’ll be one of the cheapest EVs around.
