Used KGM Motors cars overview

KGM, which used to be called SsangYong, is both a new brand and a familiar one. It focuses on making affordable, rugged SUVs, with cars like the Rexton and the Korando beloved by farmers for their cheap all-terrain ability. More recent models such as the Torres and the Actyon have tried to ramp up the levels of sophistication. The good news is that most KGM (and Ssangyong) models are pretty reliable, although you need to beware of diesel particulate filters that clog up easily if you’re only doing short trips.

FAQs

KGM is what used to be called Sssangyong, which through various names has been making cars since the mid 1950s. Ssangyong launched in the UK in the late 1980s, but following a series of takeovers and sell-offs, it was bought by the massive South Korean KG Group, and rebranded as KG Mobility, or just plain old KGM in 2022.

They’re actually not too bad. The more recent models such as the Torres and the Actyon are almost approaching the sort of sophistication you might expect from a mainstream brand such as Vauxhall or Ford. Older cars, such as the Tivoli and the Korando, are appallingly noisy and unrefined compared to more modern designs, but all KGM models have one major advantage — they’re almost un-killable in reliability terms.
