It’s been around for more than 60 years and, finally, Land Rover has decided now is the time to redesign the Defender. Nothing has been confirmed for the new car short of the photos of the DC100 concept (above) so speculation abounds. It’ll almost certainly keep the Defender’s status as a working vehicle so we expect it to have a utilitarian cabin, plenty of cargo and towing capacity and a torquey diesel engine. Jaguar-Land Rover’s new range of Ingenium engines are the perfect candidates provided they wouldn’t make the Defender too expensive to buy. It’ll certainly get Land Rover’s finest off-road gear but its on-road performance (a weak area of its predecessor) should be significantly improved, too.
