What does Mat make of the Evoque?

Said to be inspired by the Rover Rover Sport HST, the Evoque P300 HST gets the same steering wheel and interior headlining as that car — both trimmed in suede-effect cloth, imaginatively called ‘suedecloth.

Two 10-inch screens come fitted in the centre console as standard, with one controlling the infotainment features and the other for adjusting the driving modes and climate-control settings.

A 300hp 2.0-litre petrol engine powers the HST

Powering the Ranger Rover Evoque P300 HST is a 2.0-litre petrol engine linked up to a mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency. It produces 300hp and sends its grunt to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll crack 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds as a result.

The P300 HST also comes equipped with a Terrain Response 2 system that allows you to instantly switch between preset driving modes for trips on- and off-road.
