The Toyota Sport Crossover Concept has been revealed at the brand’s Kenshiki forum in Brussels, and it’s a new, sporty-looking four-door coupe designed to take on the likes of the BMW i4 and Polestar 2.
This new all-electric fastback will make its European debut in 2025, with some new battery tech on board to help maximise range and reduce charging times.
New Toyota Sport Crossover Concept design
The Toyota Sport Crossover Concept isn’t a high-riding SUV as the name would suggest, it’s actually a swoopy four-door coupe designed to offer a stylish alternative to cars like the BMW i4 and Polestar 2.
The front end will be recognisable to fans of the new Toyota C-HR, because it takes plenty of styling cues from that car. Those super-slim headlights which blend seamlessly into a full-width light bar, combined with the pointy, low-slung nose gives the Sport Crossover Concept an aggressive and purposeful appearance.
Down the side you have the obligatory enormous alloy wheels you typically find on a concept car, something which may be toned down once the company’s accountants get involved, and there are plenty of bold creases and complex contours to keep things looking interesting.
Looking towards the rear, those tail lights have a similar shape to the headlights, and the two fins extending from the roof are a feature we first saw on the Toyota bZ4X. Being an EV, there are no fake exhausts to be found here, just some subtle vents and black plastic trim.
New Toyota Sport Crossover Concept batteries and range
Toyota hasn’t actually confirmed any technical specs for the new Cport Crossover Concept, however it may share parts with today’s bZ4X. Toyota is also working on some new battery technology for 2026 which may make its way into this car in the future.
The Toyota bZ4X uses a 71kWh battery, and it can manage up to 318 miles on a charge. This Sport Crossover Concept will be more aerodynamic than this car thinks to its swoopy, low-slung shape, so it may be able to eke out a few more miles on a charge.
From 2026 onwards, Toyota is aiming to offer a next-generation battery which it says will over twice the range as the bZ4X, while also being 20% cheaper to produce. This could give future Toyota models over 500 miles of range.
When can I buy a new Toyota Sport Crossover Concept?
The Toyota Sport Crossover Concept will make its debut in 2025, and it’s pretty likely to remain more or less unchanged when it goes into production.
