Can an all-out American muscle car out run two Porsches down a drag strip? It’s a question everyone’s asked, right? Well today we’re going to find out.

First to line up is the Porsche Cayman GT4. It has a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine with 420hp and 420Nm of torque. This goes to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

Coming up next we have a Porsche 718 Cayman. Being the entry level model in the Cayman range, it has a 2.9-litre turbocharged flat-four engine with 300hp and 380nm of torque. The 718 is also rear wheel drive but it has a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It’s the lightest car here as well, coming in at 1,365kg compared to the GT4s 1,420kg.

The Ford Mustang weighs quite a bit more than that, tipping the scales at 1,807kg. To get around this, it has a 5.0-litre V8 engine with 460hp and 529Nm of torque. This power is put down by the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

So which of these cars will be victorious? You’ll have to watch the video to find out.
