The upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer seven-seat SUV will take on the likes of the Mercedes GLS and Range Rover Sport when it goes on sale in 2019. Check out our exclusive render to see what this giant off roader could look like before it’s officially revealed.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer styling
The grainy black and white images courtesy of Auto Blog below suggest the upcoming Grand Wagoneer will certainly boast impressive road presence. A vast seven-slot grille flanked by aggressive LED headlights is perfectly positioned to loom menacingly in the rear-view mirrors of cars ahead. Numerous chunky details – such as a pair of large towing eyes and additional fog lights – hint at this SUVs off-road capabilities.
Take a walk round the back – it’ll only take 20 minutes or so – and you’ll find a set of thin brakelights that accentuate this SUVs vast size. Peeking out from beneath its thick rear bumper is a contrasting chrome trim piece and a pair of large square exhausts reminiscent of those fitted to the current Grand Cherokee.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer interior
No official images have emerged of the new Grand Wagoneer’s interior but we expect it to feel significantly plusher than the Grand Cherokee to help it compete with more upmarket rivals. A large central infotainment display will almost certainly feature, as will a chunky leather-trimmed steering wheel and a pair of supportive leather seats – perfect for holding you firmly in place during the odd spot of off roading.
A third row of seats in the rear, combined with a longer body and higher roof than any current Jeep model, will help the upcoming Grand Wagoneer seat seven in decent comfort, too.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer engine and driving
All models are expected to come fitted with four-wheel drive as standard. Entry-level versions could come fitted with a 3.0-litre diesel V6 while range-topping models could wear an SRT badge and boast a brutal 6.4-litre V8.
This fearsome 477hp unit currently sees service in the Grand Cherokee SRT where it manages a fairly measly 16.8mpg. If you don’t mind spending every waking minute at your local petrol station, however, it should give this upcoming seven-seater sports car-like performance – in a straight line at least.
Jeep Grand Wagoneer price and release date
The new Grand Wagoneer should make its public debut sometime in 2018. It’s expected to hit UK roads in 2019 and command an asking price of approximately £55,000 to £90,000 depending on final specification.
