We’ve been living with a Polestar 3 for a few months, and if you’re looking for a luxurious and roomy electric car with loads of range it’s a great buy – especially when you look at the leasing prices.

If you’re in the market for a big, posh electric SUV, your first thought will probably be to buy something German. The BMW iX, Mercedes EQE SUV and Audi Q6 e-tron all fit the bill, but there’s a car from Sweden which we reckon you should also seriously consider.

The Polestar 3 is a brilliant choice, and in certain ways it’s better than the other three cars mentioned above. We’ve been living with a Polestar 3 for a couple of months, and here’s why we think you should check it out.

Why do we love the Polestar 3?

Let’s start with the obvious: it looks fantastic. Compared with the anonymous Audi Q6 e-tron and the polarising BMW iX, this stylish Swede really stands out.

Our car is finished in a pewter-like hue which shows off the bold creases and angular front end. It looks properly sporty.

Stepping inside reveals an equally lovely interior. Our car has the white leather which, when paired with the panoramic glass roof, makes the cabin feel nice and airy. We like the driftwood trim on the dashboard as well, and the Google-based infotainment system is really easy to use.

Out on the road the Polestar is really comfortable, more so than a Mercedes EQE SUV. It glides over bumps in the road, and the cabin remains hushed at speed. It’ll also do nearly 400 miles on a charge in the real world, as we found out when we drove the Polestar 3 until it died.

Why we’d lease a Polestar 3

We reckon leasing is the best way to get behind the wheel of a Polestar 3, because there are some great deals available through Carwow right now.

Prices start from around £700 per month for the dual motor version with an initial payment of £8,700, and this is on a four-year contract with a mileage limit of 5,000 per year. If you cover more miles than this, you can double the limit for an extra £25 per month.

Compared to alternatives, a BMW iX will cost you about £70 per month more at the time of writing. And while the Audi Q6 e-tron and Mercedes EQE SUV cost about the same as the Polestar, we’d rather own the stylish Swede.

Leasing your Polestar 3 will also protect you from depreciation, because big, luxurious electric cars like this tend to lose value quite quickly. We found a 2025 Polestar 3 dual motor for sale on Carwow with just 2,900 miles on the clock for a shade over £50,000, which is £35,000 less than it would’ve cost new. That makes it a bargain for the second owner, but if you lease your car then the depreciation isn’t your problem.

Are there any drawbacks to the Polestar 3?

While we do love our Polestar 3, it’s not perfect. We had a host of software bugs when we first got the car, including one which made it really difficult to unlock. An over-the-air update has thankfully solved these issues.

The sporty styling does also impact rear visibility, because the narrow rear windows don’t give you a great view out. We find ourselves relying on the 360-degree camera a lot, and luckily it’s a really good system with a crisp image.

Finally, there’s the lack of buttons in the interior. This is a complaint which isn’t limited to the Polestar, a lot of modern cars have ditched physical switches in favour of touchscreen-based controls, but this doesn’t make prodding at a screen on the move any less annoying.

Small gripes aside, we reckon the Polestar 3 is one of the best premium electric SUVs you can buy. It’s a great car to live with, and it turns heads wherever it goes.
