This is the DS No8, a quirky French electric car which could have the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2 quaking in their tyres. Here are five cool things to know.

The new DS No8 is coming soon, and this stylish French luxury EV could be just the ticket if you’re after a quirky, left-field alternative to the more hum-drum electric cars on the market these days.

It’s certainly striking to look at, and with up to 466 miles of range it can also go about 30 miles further on a charge than a Tesla Model 3. We haven’t had a chance to drive the DS No8 yet, but we have had a look around the car and have some initial impressions. Here are three cool things about this car.

1. The design

DS has a reputation for making some seriously stylish cars, and the No8 takes this to a new extreme. That concave glass grille and the slim, pointy headlights help it stand out against the rather amorphous Model 3, and the coupe-like side profile looks great as well.

We also love the rear taillights. They have a super-intricate internal structure which almost makes them look like jewels on the back of the car, and the two-tone paint finishes things off nicely.

2. Awesome interior touches

The interior of this car also has some features unlike any we’ve ever seen before, most notably the steering wheel. The way the four spokes spread out looks super-cool, and the silver trim adds a touch of class.

Speaking of class, the speakers for the sound system also look great. They’re really well-integrated into stainless steel panels, and the grilles have a really detailed star pattern to them. They almost look like the sort of details you’d find carved into an old Parisian building.

3. Lounge-like comfort

Stepping into the DS No8 for the first time and the seats are fabulous, especially the ones in the rear. They’re really well-padded and feel almost like a sofa as you sink into them, and there’s plenty of space to stretch out.

That feeling of space is emphasised by the huge panoramic roof, which makes the cabin feel light and airy. We haven’t had a chance to drive this car yet, so we can’t draw a full conclusion on what it’s like to drive yet, but on these first impressions it should be a comfortable cruiser.
