This is the new Porsche Cayenne Electric, and it has more screens in it than the average flat. A flat doesn’t have 1,000hp and a 3.0-second 0-62mph time though. News Editor Jamie Edkins walks you through this new electric luxury SUV

It feels like the Porsche Cayenne Electric has been in development for years, but now we’ve finally been given a glimpse of the interior and, joy of joys, it’s another screen fest. I’ve been quite vocal in the past about my preference for proper buttons, but thankfully this car does have some of those as well.

Porsche has also revealed a few details about what’s powering this electric Cayenne, and it gets an all-new drive system which develops 1,000hp and 1,500Nm of torque. It’ll also go more than 372 miles on a charge, which is around the same as a BMW iX.

New Porsche Cayenne Electric interior: do you like screens?

The new Porsche Cayenne Electric has a pretty similar dashboard layout to other models in the brand’s lineup – that high centre console and upright dash looks an awful like the Panamera I was driving in September.

But it is a bit more screen heavy than other Porsches; it’s actually the largest screen area in any Porsche, and it comprises three different displays. There’s a 14.25-inch digital driver’s display, then in the centre you have a curved touchscreen for your main infotainment.

Then you have the optional 14.9-inch passenger screen, a feature which I’m still at odds to see the point of. Yes, the passenger can stream videos on it without distracting the driver thanks to some clever light filtering tech, but most people will still just watch TikTok on their phone, surely?

An augmented reality head-up display completes the array of screens in this car. It can project directions onto the road in front of you, as well as warn you of obstacles ahead.

New Porsche Cayenne Electric batteries and motors

Powering the new electric Porsche Cayenne are two electric motors which, in range-topping models, develop 1,000hp and 1,500Nm of torque. That allows it to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than 3.0-seconds, making this massive electric SUV quicker than a 911 GTS.

Feeding those motors is a new 113kWh battery pack, which Porsche reckons will deliver “more than 600km of range”. That’s around 372 miles, so it’ll be roughly the same as a BMW iX. However, a Mercedes EQS SUV will do 400 miles on a charge.

At least you’ll be able to charge the Cayenne Electric quickly, because it can go from 10-80% in just 16 minutes thanks to 400kW DC fast charging.

When can I buy the new Porsche Cayenne Electric?

Next year, but you can expect to pay a pretty penny for this posh electric car. A top-of-the-range Macan Electric – which will sit below the new Cayenne Electric – costs almost £100,000, and a top-spec petrol-powered Cayenne costs £140,000.

So a price tag of around £150,000 for the new Cayenne Electric is more than possible when it hits the showrooms in 2026, and it could rise to as much as £200,000 once you’ve spent some time with the options list.
