Car changing is a big deal
This is Jaguar’s new electric luxury GT car, the roadgoing version of the controversial Type 00 concept from late 2024. Jaguar has been hard at work testing this car, and the final reveal will be happening before the end of 2026.
Very few cars have caused quite such a ruckus as the Jaguar Type 00. When this bonkers concept was revealed in 2024, fans of this British brand went berserk and interest was so high that it was crowned our Most Anticipated car of 2026.
The Type 00 is a two-door coupe, but the production car which it foreshadows is a four-door saloon. Jaguar insists that it’ll look just like the concept car, and it’s shown us some camouflaged prototypes to give us an idea of the final design.
New Jaguar Luxury GT: What will it look like?
Pictured below is the Jaguar Type 00 concept, and this is what Jaguar tells us the new four-door GT will look like. Of course it won’t be a carbon copy, the concept has two fewer doors for a start, but the basic design is said to be the same.

Looking at this camouflaged prototype, the front end appears to be very similar. It has an insanely long bonnet for a car with no engine under there, and the blunt nose makes it look like a cartoon villain’s car of choice. You can also see the slim, rectangular headlights poking out of the wrap.

From the side you can see it has a similar low, sloping roofline to the Type 00, although there is more of a notch at the very back which makes it look a little bit like a Volvo ES90 from the rear quarter.

The concept car had some horizontal slats across the rear, and you can just about see a pair of horizontal taillights at the back of these prototypes. The rear is covered up though, so you’ll have to wait until the car is revealed to find out if that feature has been carried over.
New Jaguar Luxury GT: What’s powering this car?
We know that Jaguar’s new GT car will be electric, but until now there weren’t many further details. Jag has now divulged some additional specs which give us an idea of just how fast this car will be.

It’ll be built using a bespoke collection of parts called the Jaguar Electric Architecture, and it won’t share any parts with the upcoming Range Rover Electric despite the two brands being part of the same family.
The GT car uses three electric motors which produce over 1,000hp combined, making this the most powerful car Jaguar has ever made. It also has a new torque vectoring system which can send precisely the right amount of power to the wheel with the most grip, making it feel more agile through the corners.

It’s fitted with rear-wheel steering to help both handling and low-speed manoeuvrability, something which could be handy in a car this long, and this luxury EV gets adaptive air suspension to make it as relaxing to drive as possible.
New Jaguar Luxury GT: When can I buy one?
Jaguar is going to reveal this new electric car later in 2026, and it’s still hard at work testing it in a variety of conditions. There are 150 prototypes out there right now racking up hundreds of thousands of miles through scorching deserts and freezing winter wonderlands to make sure it performs in all conditions.
So in reality, you’re likely to be waiting until early 2027 to see this car on the road, and it’ll almost certainly have a six-figure price tag as well.
