The BMW M4 GTS is the ultimate version of the Bavarian manufacturer’s M4 coupe, built to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its M3 forebear. It’s been on a diet and the engine has been prodded to produce more power to turn the already fast M4 into a Teutonic track weapon. Scroll down for a gorgeous high-res look at the new car in our M4 GTS gallery.
All the enhancements have proven their worth because BMW sent the new model around the fearsome Nurburgring test track, where it set a 7:28 lap time. That puts it on par with genuine supercars such as the McLaren 12C and the outgoing Ferrari 458. It’s also 30 seconds faster than the standard M4.
It’ll perform as well on the street as it does around the ‘ring. Thanks to a new water-injection system providing more cooling for the engine, it’ll hit 62mph from rest in 3.8 seconds and carry on to a 190mph top speed. Weight has been reduced by 62kg to 1,510kg, helping increase performance and improve handling.
Also new are organic LED lights that give off a more even glow than regular LEDs and the weight saving carbon fibre seats. The rear seats have been totally removed to save weight and a beefy chassis brace takes their place.
BMW M4 GTS price and release date
The M4 GTS is a limited edition model so BMW will only produce 700 units, of which only 30 are coming to the UK. Reflecting its exclusive status, it’ll cost a whopping £121,770 when it hits roads in June 2016.
