  • Mid-life facelift for luxury seven-seater
  • Updated exterior styling
  • New infotainment technology
  • V8 SQ7 also updated
  • On sale in march

The Audi Q7 has been given a mid-life update, with this BMW X5 alternative getting updated styling and new technology.

Sales of the new Q7 will start in March this year, and it’ll cost from £66,605.

New Audi Q7 design

This is just a mid-life update for the Audi Q7, so the design has only been mildly modernised, much like the new Q8.

Starting up front, the headlights are slightly tweaked with a sleek new LED signature, and the grille has been given a more imposing honeycomb pattern compared to the outgoing car. The bumper is also new with some reshaped air intakes.

Not much has changed down the side, although there is a new range of alloy wheel designs with sizes going up to a whopping 22 inches. You have a few new colours to choose from as well, including this dark blue and a posh-looking bronze.

Moving to the rear, the new tail lights lift things thanks to a refreshed LED design. The bumper has been changed as well, and it looks less fussy than before thanks to the blacked-out diffuser.

New Audi Q7 interior and infotainment

Step inside the new Audi Q7 and you’ll have a hard time telling apart from the outgoing car. That’s because the design is exactly the same, you have to dig into the screens to find the upgrades.

The infotainment system is now available with third party apps such as Spotify and AMazon Music, something you didn’t get on the outgoing car. The digital driver’s display has also been upgraded, with it now being able to display a lane change warning, as well as highlight other road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.

New Audi Q7 engines and performance

You have four engines to choose from in your new Audi Q7, two diesels and two petrol. The range kicks off with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel with 231hp, or you can have the same engine with 286hp.

Then there’s the 3.0-litre V6 petrol putting out 340hp. All of these V6 engines can also tow up to 3.5 tonnes, and they’re all paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Sitting at the top of the range is the V8 SQ7. This car has a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine with 507hp. That’s over 20hp less than the BMW X5 M60i, however it’s slightly quicker than that car to 60mph. The SQ7 can complete the sprint in 4.1 seconds, compared to 4.3 seconds for the BMW.

New Audi Q7 price and specs

The new Audi Q7 will go on sale in the UK this March, with prices starting from £66,605. That’s slightly less than the BMW X5’s starting price, and it’s a whopping £10,000 less than a Mercedes GLE.

All cars come with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive, adaptive air suspension, leather seats, a reversing camera and heated front seats. Splashing out £71,155 gets you the Black Edition model with 21-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and blacked-out exterior trim.

Range-topping Vorsprung cars then get a panoramic glass roof, matrix LED headlights, 22-inch alloy wheels and a premium sound system. All this will set you back £89,805. If the thumping V8 engine from the SQ7 takes your fancy, you’ll have to part with £92,420.
