Audi’s SQ5 Plus will join its SUV lineup with tweaks that will put it above its standard sibling. The aptly named SQ5 Plus will add a variety of tweaks that’ll build on the car’s already existing qualities of practicality and fiery performance.
The Plus uses the same 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine as the normal SQ5, but now with 335hp – an increase of 27 compared to the standard car. This results in a 0-62mph time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
It’ll be the first car in the Q5 range to feature Audi’s sports differential. This helps the quattro four-wheel-drive system to increase grip in wet and dry conditions for improved acceleration and traction. Other changes include 21-inch alloy wheels and gloss black finish on the door handles, wing mirrors and rear diffuser.
Inside, the interior that boasts diamond-stitched leather upholstery. The rear seats are now fully adjustable as standard and can slide forward to accommodate more luggage – this was previously an option on the SQ5.
If you want something as fast as most sports cars but need the practicality and luxury of a premium SUV, this is all you’ll ever need. You’ll have to wait a few months if you want one though, order books won’t open until later this year.
The previous generation Audi TT RS Plus cost £3,000 over the standard TT RS so we expect a similar price increase for the SQ5 Plus. That means it could cost around £48,000, over the standard SQ5’s £44,785 price.
