  • More aggressive-looking aerodynamics
  • Based on the RS6 Performance
  • Power increase likely
  • On sale later this year

The Audi RS6 is nearing the end of its production run, and it looks like the brand is planning to send the Mercedes-AMG E63 alternative out with a bang.

A new version has been spotted testing with a more aggressive-looking body kit, and it’s likely to have more power as well.

New Audi RS6 design

The Audi RS6 is already a pretty aggressive-looking estate car, however this new version looks as though it’ll turn things up even more.

The front bumper looks pretty similar to the one fitted to the recently-revealed Audi RS6 Performance. It has the classic Audi massive front grille, as well as large air intakes lower down. There may be some more aerodynamic tweaks under the wrap as well.

Changes down the side include a new vent at the rear of the front wing, and there appears to be some larger side skirts as well. The wheels fitted to this prototype are the same as the 22-inch forged units on the RS6 Performance.

There’s a much larger rear spoiler than you’ll find on the standard RS6, however the rest of the rear end is business as usual. You have the dual oval tailpipes, as well as a chunky-looking diffuser.

New Audi RS6 engine and driving

This new version of the Audi RS6 is likely to be based on the RS6 Performance, meaning it’ll use a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. It’s already got an extra 30hp over the standard RS6, resulting in 630hp, however this car could be more powerful still.

This is the same basic engine as you’ll find in the Lamborghini Urus Performante, and that car has 700hp. You could see around 650hp from this new RS6 in this case.

How much will the new Audi RS6 Avant cost?

This new version of the Audi RS6 is likely to debut before the end of the year, ahead of the launch of the new Audi A6 e-tron next year.

As for price, the Audi RS6 Performance starts from £109,570, so you can expect this new version to fetch a premium over this. Somewhere close to £120,000 is a safe bet.
