Most car adverts try and list all the big selling points, others the price and some just show it in stylish settings. These car adverts seem intent on causing outrage, offending people and getting banned. Enjoy!
This Australian advert for the Toyota Yaris was recalled after a huge amount of complaints were posted to their Facebook fan page. The ad was the result of a competition run by their advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi. It’s not hard to see why it offended so many people!
This racy advert made the news when it a major Italian network refused to show it. The TV network is owned by the infamous Berlusconi, we doubt he personally complained about it.
Another banned one here, this time a Dutch advert for the new Hyundai Veloster. It was classed as being ‘too morbid’.
Probably the most sexist advert we’ve ever seen, unbelievable how they got away with this!
One for the boys here. It’s advertising the Nissan Pathfinder, a rugged 4×4, presumably women aren’t in their target market…
Subaru GL Coupe
Another vintage advert that’s unashamedly sexist.
Another advert that caused a lot of uproar around the world, with complaints that it objectifies women by comparing them to used cars. The creative directors who created it were both men…
It’s rare for a company as big as Volkswagen to make such a big mistake. This banned commercial showing a suicide bomber is bound to offend a lot of people.
Old VW Beetle
Another old print ad that’s seriously offensive to women. The line ‘Women are soft and gentle, but they hit things’ isn’t going to sell the car to the fairer sex!
This advert was banned as it was classed as ‘promoting domestic violence’. We can see why it wasn’t allowed, but these advertising regulators need to lighten up a bit.
