  • Mate Rimac teases new car
  • Likely to be new P3 Mobility autonomous taxi
  • Technology would lessen the need to own cars privately
  • Full reveal coming 26 June
  • UK market launch anticipated in 2027

Rimac’s CEO Mate Rimac has teased a new car on Instagram. Renowned for launching the of the bonkers 1,914hp Rimac Nevera, as well as acquiring Bugatti back in 2021, this new hatchback is going to be something a bit different from the Croatian brand.

Don’t get your hopes up for a quad-motor electric hot hatch, this is likely to be a new self-driving car from Rimac sub-brand P3 Mobility. It’ll have nothing to do with the Rimac or Bugatti supercar brands, but P3 Mobility is hoping to have this car on UK roads by 2027.

P3 Mobility is a Croatian company working on developing an infrastructure of self-driving taxis. It’s a sub brand of Rimac, the supercar marque known for making the bonkers 1,914hp Nevera, however the two operate as separate entities.

The project is based around “mobility as a service”, a concept which would see less people owning their own cars. Instead of having your own car parked on your driveway, you would summon a self-driving taxi to your home whenever you needed it via an app, reducing the amount of cars on the road.

The app works in a similar way to Uber, only the car which comes to pick you up has no driver on board. Not only does this mitigate the awkward small talk, you can adjust the climate control and listen to your own music on the journey.

It’ll launch this new service in the Croatian capital of Zagreb by 2026, and P3 mobility claim these robotaxis will “increase traffic safety, while maintaining the efficiency of all participants and reducing traffic jams”.
