Colour guide
Solid - Flame red
Free
Flame red, as we’ve noted with other Nissan models, is a cracking standard colour. It’s just a simple, tradtitional, solid red which is bright, cheerful, and welcoming. Arguably, it works less well on the Leaf than on some other models, but we still like it.

Metallic - Gun metal
£575
This one is not an especially thrilling colour, and what can look classy and subtle on some other cars just tends to wash out the Leaf’s styling a bit too much. It’s a conservative and sensible option, but that means everyone else is going to pick it too.
Metallic - Pearl black
£575
Does what it says on the (paint) tin really — it’s a deep, shiny black that actually works rather well on the Leaf. The electric hatchback has rather plain styling anyway, so with a smart set of alloy wheels, it looks rather handsome in black.
Pearl - Blue
£745
The Leaf’s Blue pearl paint is a warm, rich shade of very dark blue, but it’s possibly just a bit too dark for the Leaf’s shape, making it look a little dull and conservative. A bit more brightness in the blue wouldn’t have gone amiss.
Pearl - Storm white
£745
This is a particularly rich white, which has a lots of deep, warm tones in its pearlescent flake. It works very well on the Leaf — indeed it’s the colour Nissan tends to use for publicity photos — and it combines very well with the somewhat pricey optional black roof and door mirrors.
Two tone paint - Blade silver/Pearl black roof and door mirrors
£925
Quite a plain silver, this one, which thanks to the Leaf being a quietly-styled car at the best of times means it can look a bit lost. The contrast black roof and mirrors help, of course, but they can only do so much.
Two tone paint - Magnetic red/Pearl black roof and door mirrors
£925
Magnetic red is a warm, rich, almost blood-red which, combined with the contrast black roof gives the Leaf a really classy look. As a bonus, it’s one of the most affordable two-tone paint options for the car.
Two tone special paint - Ceramic grey/Pearl black roof and door mirrors
£1,095
A metallic finish that looks almost matte, Ceramic grey doesn’t work so well on the Leaf, because it’s a very understated car to begin with. Were it a more striking design, this would probably look great, but the semi-matte effect just flattens all of the body’s lines and makes the Leaf look a little blobby.
Two tone special paint - Magnetic blue/Pearl black roof and door mirrors
£1,095
Magnetic blue is quite a vibrant colour, and it might be a bit too much so were it not for the fact that the contrast black roof and mirrors tones everything down a bit. One of the best colours for the Leaf, but quite expensive.
Two tone special paint - Storm white/Pearl black roof and door mirrors
£1,095
White seems to suit the Leaf surprisngly well and adding the pearl black roof and mirrors increases the interets level versus plain white. It's not cheap thoughm and will obviously highlight the dirt quickly if you're not plannign on keeping it clean.
