This is the most powerful Lamborghini Urus ever, and it’s a plug-in hybrid…

Car changing is a big deal
This is the new Lamborghini Urus SE, and the brand’s SUV is now available as a plug-in hybrid. Don’t think it’s gone all sensible though…
- New Lamborghini Urus SE revealed
- The Urus SUV gains plug-in hybrid tech
- 4.0-litre V8 paired with an electric motor
- 800hp and 950Nm of torque combined
- Almost 40 miles of pure-electric range
- Price of over £200,000 expected
The Lamborghini Urus has been given an update for 2024, with the highlight being an all-new plug-in hybrid system.
Don’t think this has just been done in the name of scoring eco brownie points though, because it’s also packing a whole lot more power than the standard car.
New Lamborghini Urus SE engine and performance
Ever-tightening emissions regulations meant it was never going to be long before electric power started finding its way into Lamborghini’s, however that doesn’t mean the new Urus SE isn’t all about the performance.
Under the bonnet you’ll find a tweaked version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the Urus S and the Audi RS Q8 which on its own puts out 620hp and 800Nm of torque.
That would be plenty for most people, however the Urus SE has an electric motor thrown into the mix giving it a combined 800hp and 950Nm of torque. That gives it over 130hp more than the Urus Performante, and it’s 60hp more than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid has to offer from a mechanically-similar engine.
So what does this new dose of power mean for performance? Well the Urus SE will do 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds, making it 0.1 of a second quicker than the Urus S and three-tenths quicker than the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Interestingly, the less powerful Urus Performante is actually quicker to 60mph by 0.1 of a second. This is likely due to the added weight the SE is carrying in its hybrid battery.
New Lamborghini Urus SE batteries and range
Speaking of the battery, the Urus SE has a 26kWh pack located underneath the boot floor. Unlike the puny 3.8kWh battery you get in the Revuelto supercar which can only take you a few miles before the engine kicks in, the Urus SE actually has a usable all-electric range.
It can do almost 40 miles on electric power alone, a bit behind the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid but still plenty to save you some petrol on the daily commute to then subsequently burn through when you go for a weekend backroad blast.
New Lamborghini Urus SE suspension and chassis
The Lamborghini Urus SE gets more than just extra power, there have been some tweaks to the chassis to help it feel more agile as well.
It’s fitted with an all-new torque vectoring system which can continuously vary the power going to the front and rear wheels. This can help to slingshot you through corners, and it can even give you ‘on-demand’ oversteer to make this family-friendly SUV feel more like a sports car. Just don’t get too carried away when the kids are in the back.
New Lamborghini Urus SE design
That’s all the big mechanical changes, but Lamborghini has also given the Urus a minor nip-and-tuck makeover to keep it looking fresh.
The headlights are new and ever so slightly slimmer than before, and you have a new bonnet which flows into the bumper with no shut lines, helping things look a bit cleaner. The grille is just as imposing as ever, although it has been tweaked slightly with new air intakes.
Not much has changed down the side, with the Urus retaining the same sporty silhouette as before. The tailgate is new though, and the rear lights have been tweaked as well.
When can I buy the new Lamborghini Urus SE?
You’ll be able to place your orders later this year, however pricing hasn’t been confirmed just yet. Given that this is now the most powerful Urus you can buy, expect to see a hike over the Performante’s £200,000 plus asking price.
